A traditional and educational experience. - Traditional and educational, tucked away in Kyoto suburbs. A lovely experience that caters to the beginner with an excellent introduction to the formal tea ceremony and an opportunity to taste both the tea master’s craft and your own attempt to match the matcha.

History comes to life! - We never realized the precision that entails a tea ceremony. It was very interesting. Sadly, we were unable to sit in the preferred position for the time allowed, but were made to feel comfortable and really enjoyed the ceremony.

Private and intimate Tea ceremony - The session was well organised with an English speaker to support the master who did the tea ceremony. All questions were well answered and you get a chance to learn to make tea too. I particularly liked this event because it was held in a private location and intimate in nature compared to the well advertised tourist experience which cost a lot.

A quaint and enriching tea ceremony - There's way more to matcha than your matcha lattes from cafes. This was an intimate, educational, and enriching experience. Whilst enjoying the local sweets and ceremonial grade matcha, we also learnt about Japanese culture and its customs. After the ceremony ended, the tea master patiently answered our questions. We also got excellent recommendations for local restaurants. I am so thankful that I did not miss this experience! 😄

Graceful Tea Experience - Really enjoyed the tea ceremony. Very friendly and graceful hosts. We were shown the careful and watchful process of making and taking the green tea, and made our own. The taste was the freshest yet and it was a welcome break to be there

Tea Ceremony in Kyoto - Absolutely loved this experience. We were able to both watch our host make tea and then make the tea ourselves. We also enjoyed a couple of yummy sweets. The english interpreter was great and told about the history. Also, for someone with sore hips, I had the option to sit on a small seat, which was very comfortable.

There are more pleasant things to do in Kyoto - The location: far from everything, hard to find. Interior: small tatami room. Atmosphere: not really heartwarming.
