Great exploration day! - We booked this tour looking for a great four to five hour snorkel and hike and that's exactly what we got. Cristian picked us up on time and gave us a history lesson as we traveled to a couple beautiful lookout points before heading to the beach for snorkeling. We are novice snorkelers and while Cristian made sure our equipment was fitted properly, we probably could have used a bit of an overview of how the snorkeling was going to unfold, e.g. where we were going, what to look for, and what to expect. Other than that the snorkel was wonderful. He took us around the corral reef and then into a cave which was really cool. We saw lots of different fish and always felt safe and in control. Following our snorkel, we headed for our hike. The trail is well used and it is not a hard hike. Cristian was excellent in explaining some of the natural birds and conditions that impact the forest. The creme on the top was when you come out of the jungle you end up at a beautiful beach where you can see many turtle nesting sites and you have the opportunity to swim in the ocean. Normally there is also a local business that can provide drinks and food, but it was open the day we were there. The hike back from the beach to the vehicle took some time (about an hour) but was an easy walk through the jungle. You also get to see some farms, that are growing pineapples, bananas, among other things. We wrapped up the tour by going to La Crucecita where Cristian showed us around the town and helped us buy some local cheese. All in all it was a great few hours. We saw and learned about many things that we would not have, had we not gone on this tour. Only advice would be that have good sandals for walking as it is approximately three kilometers both ways.

An enjoyable and low key day - Cristian our guide communicated with us very well before the excursion and provided a small group experience (2 couples) that was very fun. He was flexible with our schedule and we never felt “herded”. We first took in some spectacular viewpoints along the coast and then snorkeled in Playa La Entrega, a very popular beach. The bay was large enough for snorkeling without crowding and a there was a decent variety of fish to see. The seabed was in sad shape due to exposure to manmade chemicals (shampoo, soap, etc. coming off the swimmers). We then went to Hualtuco National Park for a hike through the jungle. The hike was hot and the jungle sparse it being the end of the dry season, but we found it interesting. The payoff was coming out to Playa Cacaluta, a very deserted and beautiful beach with a couple of small shacks selling water, beer, and snacks. The swimming appeared to be treacherous so we just enjoyed the solitude of nature. We hiked back along the road to the beach, passing several small farms. Cristian finished our tour with a drive around the area pointing out the various neighborhoods and bays.
