Amazing! - It's an amazing road to walk!! Also there's a lovely cafe at the end of it with a view to the volcano. Bartender Jeremy was so nice and was going above and beyond for everyone.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Arenal 1968 Trail – Beautiful Scenery and a Well‑Maintained Hike - We hiked the Arenal 1968 Trail and had a truly enjoyable experience. We went up the moderate trail and came down the red trail, which gave us a great mix of viewpoints, terrain, and natural beauty. Overall, the trails are well maintained, and it’s clear that the area is cared for thoughtfully. There were a few sections on the ascent where the path became steep with open rocks and a bit slippery, but with proper footwear and a steady pace, it was manageable. The scenery throughout the hike was stunning—lush vegetation, lava fields, and wide‑open views that make the effort worthwhile. We were able to spot some wildlife along the way, which added to the experience. Although we couldn’t see the volcano’s peak due to cloud cover, the trail still offered plenty of memorable sights. Arenal 1968 is a rewarding and scenic hike, perfect for anyone wanting to experience the natural beauty of the Arenal region.

Volcanic rock hike - Very nice hike through rocks that were part of the 1968 eruption. It’s a nice hike but is limited in length. Beautiful views. A great contrast to the rain forest.

Worker's dog attacks a coati - My young nephew and I loved the trail, however our experience was disturbed by seeing one of the park worker's dog attacking a coati. The dog chased after the coati, tackled it to the ground and bit it while chasing it into the forest. The worker didn't even yell after his dog. This was terrible to witness. As a park that cares about nature and conservation, it's antithetical having one of the workers dogs attacking the wildlife us foreigners are so enamored by and excited to see.

Don't expect to see the volcano. - The staff are great! Too notch equipment. Felt safe and secure on the zip lines. Highly recommend the guided hike. The guide is very knowledgeable and points out many things you would ordinarily not notice. We were an hour late for our scheduled guided hike, but they flexed around and accommodated us. The zip lines are long and steep. It was just the rain hitting you in the face like you are on a motorcycle without a windshield blinded you the entire zip ride. Overall we had a good time and the experience was a good value.

It offers nothing different. - It is a private park that offers three different trails overlooking the volcano Arenal. Which is virtually what all other attractions offer. We made the red trail that offered beyond the view of the volcano a walk on the map. The walk in the woods does not present anything different even you hear the noise of the street cars so it is a tiring long walk without much purpose if you already know this type of vegetation. The views of the volcano are as beautiful as any point of the city and surroundings. The eruption stones are also not very interesting, they are small stones covered with a rocky vegetation and are not of the kind that one expects with a "sloped" look.
