Mountain bike lake Arenal La fortuna Costa Rica March 2025 - Hi we did this trip which was great. Firstly I made a mistake and got the timing wrong but they were ok. We were driven about 40 minutes to lake Arenal. The guide was there with the bikes. After about 1 mile we had to cross a large river. The guide said we can cycle so take crocs or sandals to wear for the trip or swap to. You had to keep the power on and at the end I nearly went down because all the water is directed to the far side and it’s strong. So you then go about 1 hour 45 minutes then return. I was soaked to my waist but soon dried off. In a couple of places on the track it is steep and there is another small river to cross but the guide will advise you. We saw toucans a falcon vultures on the ground wild turkey and lots smaller birds. On the return leg we walked across the river through the water as it is harder from the far side to get momentum. On arriving back at the camp we had some fresh pineapple and water melon plus water then returned to La fortuna. A great trip thanks to the team.

Fun, beautiful, good workout - Santos was great! We enjoyed our biking trip. Beautiful views. Our family really enjoys biking so it was great to get to take a ride during our vacation. We rode on some rockier roads and some paved roads. For our family, not too technical (no single track it too steep). We covered ground quickly, so Santos was kind enough to take us on an additional stretch. We crossed through the water, which was really fun. If you opt for this addition, either bring shoes you don’t care getting wet, or my husband wore Chacos. Santos also pointed out some birds and took some great pictures. A great trip! Would highly recommend, if your family enjoys biking.

A great and absolutely beautiful experience - Our guide (Santos Rivera) was the perfect guide. We had a great 28 kilometer mountain bike ride, along with a beautiful kayak, paddle board and swim. He also made us a wonderful lunch. I heartily recommend this company for a great adventure. In addition Santos was great at providing first aid (my wife got a skinned elbow nothing serious but was attended to very diligently).

Super bike tour - Fantastic tour. It was a combination of mountain surface & road biking (due to weather). Our guide Santos, was superb. We also saw lots of birds & even an ant-eater. Santas has excellent English & lots of interesting information. The super fresh pineapple at the end of the tour was gorgeous & an extra treat. Definitely worth doing this tour. We would highly recommend it.

Exploring the area by bike was a wonderful experience - Exploring the area by bike was a wonderful experience. Crossing the river was a bit of an adventure in itself. The pleasant warmth made us forget the wet and the rain. Our guide Otto was very committed and friendly. He put us in a very good mood and he gave us a good description of the special features of the volcano and the lake. Unfortunately we had lost our sunglasses but thanks to Otto's commitment we drove back to the river in the van and luckily he found the glasses. Many thanks for this. The photos he took are a nice reminder of the great morning. We can absolutely recommend the tour

Great way to start the day - We booked this tour last minute and glad that we did! My new hubby and I ended up getting a private tour which was amazing to be able to set our own pace. This was by chance, and not guaranteed. The trail is good for all levels and the bikes are well maintained. They are hard tailed so be prepared for a sore butt if you’re not used to standing during bumpy spots.

Beautiful!! and physically challenging! - I honestly would have given this a 4.5. There are some things you really need to know before you take this ride. It is 17 miles of serious mountain biking: rocks, mud, puddles, steep grades and avoiding cows and what cows leave behind. You WILL get dirty. Also you have to do a 100 yard stream crossing in about 12 inches of water while managing your bike both on the way out and on the way back. Bring biking shorts and closed sturdy water shoes. Our guide Santos was friendly and informative. We had the whole trip to only the three of us. He let us ride at our own pace and there was no pressure to go faster, though we were pretty fast anyway. My only complaint is that he rode pretty far in front of us. At one point a chain fell off one of our bikes. Santos was so far ahead we had to stop and manage it ourselves. When we got back there was fruit, water, and bars. If you do this trip you will burn plenty of calories so you can eat all the casados and patacones you want that day!

Bring your own water shoes! - We didn’t make the most out of the trip but it’s somewhat our own fault. We didn’t want to get our shoes wet because we would board a 4 hour plane in those shoes right after the bike ride, and the instruction didn’t specify that we would need water shoes Our guide Josue is very accommodating and super knowledgeable, he made sure we enjoyed a different bike route as much as possible. I wish the instruction was more clear so we can get the most value out of our trip.
