Amazing tour for the beauty of La Fortuna (perfect for families!) - This was the PERFECT introduction to La Fortuna and the perfect speed for our family of four (two kiddos- ages 7 & 10). We loved that this was a private tour and was catered to our kids' speed and interests. Zender was an amazing tour guide- he even helped us find a coffee shop that was open at 7am. He then guided us through Mistico Bridges during a downpour and still managed to help us spot sloths, scorpion, tarantula, and a coati! We rock scrambled up the 1968 Arenal trail. The included lunch was delicious and a well needed rest. Finally, we topped off the day with a visit to the waterfall. During a tropical downpour, of course. Zender was ready though. He had an umbrella and ponchos for guests (we brought our own and didn't need), but he held an umbrella over our gear as we went to swim in the waterfall pools. Zender kept us on schedule, energized, and was wonderful with our kids. The three of them chatted about animals and he entertained all of their animal questions with knowledge and grace. He even offered suggestions of which hot springs to go to and what other activities we should do with younger kids. TL:DR- this private tour is worth every penny as an overview of all of the beauty that is included in La Fortuna. Just book it!

Memorable, Priceless Experience with a Knowledgeable & Personable Guide - Every aspect of this tour was perfect. Yeudy Cruz, our personal guide, picked us up in his (pristine) van right on time in the morning. The logistics and the pickup location were established with Traluxu Travel through email, days in advance. Yeudy took care of getting us to every location and purchasing our admission tickets and lunch. He had snacks, drinks for the kids, and adult drinks for us parents between locations. He even offered us ponchos when he saw that we showed up unprepared for the unexpected rain and cool weather we had that day. Yeudy went above and beyond to ensure that we had an enjoyable, stress-free time. He was funny, personable, and very knowledgeable. He even sat with us at lunch, happily fielding a barrage of questions from our 8 and 10 year old kids. :D We were able to take the tour at our own pace, from Mistico Park hanging bridges, to the Arenal Volcano trails, to La Fortuna Waterfall and lunch. We took our time, capturing pictures of everything we found that was interesting. Yeudy offered to take a group photo of my family on multiple occasions. Yeudy took every opportunity to show us the wildlife along the way. We saw birds, frogs, snakes, and a tarantula Yeudy even spotted a set of parrots perched in a tree at least 1/4 mile away. He would set up his scope on a tripod and give each of us the opportunity to see a close-up view of the wildlife, and he would take pictures on our cell phones of what was in focus in his scope. If we did this without a guide, we literally wouldn't have noticed any wildlife, as there is just so much vegetation that things just blend in to the untrained eye. I was hesitant to pay this amount of money, but it was well worth the memorable experience and amazing pictures we were able to capture. And with admission, transportation, and lunch included, this is a great value for a private tour of this caliber. I don't have a single complaint!

Awesome day - Great way to see several sights in one day. Our tour guide, Roy, was awesome with our kids. He kept our kids engaged throughout the trip and kept the tour moving by at the right pace. Without a guide, we would have missed most the animals so having a tour guide was a must. We saw a sloth, several groups of monkeys, local turkeys, pigs, frogs, many birds including toucans, and many types of spiders including a tarantula. Our guide carried a scope to help us see the wildlife and also helped us take some great pictures through his scope.

Fantastic private tour! - What an amazing tour! It rained most of the day, but was it was still fantastic. Zender our guide was outstanding. On our trip we saw poison dart frogs, vipers, howler monkeys, a sloth, toucans, waterfalls, and many awesome views. Zender was knowledgeable and knew where to seach for the wildlife. The lunch was also delicious! You can't go wrong booking this tour.

You won’t regret this priceless experience! - This small, private tour gave us such a rich experience. Our tour guide was outstanding. Xander greeted my husband and me with a smile at Nayara Gardens, and brought us to a car stocked with fresh fruit, beverages, and all the equipment needed for a fun day of adventure. We aren’t Spanish speakers, but our guide was more than fluent in English, and taught us phrases so we could improve our Spanish. The weather was quite rainy, but the three of us were upbeat. As we drove, our guide looked out for wildlife. Within five minutes of setting out, we were viewing toucans, motmots, and sloths from the sunroof of the comfy electric car. Our guide knew the terrain, history of the area, bird calls, and details about the flora and fauna. We saw one-day orchids, monkeys, plus we sleuthed for (and found) tarantulas. It’s clear our guide was well respected, as he fist bumped and greeted the other guides on our paths at each location we visited. We ended our day with a visit to the local farmers market (bring small bills), and a delicious lunch in La Fortuna. It was a day of healthy movement, learning new things, and building a fun connection with a very experienced guide. We highly, highly recommend this experience.

Informative but Rushed for a Private Tour - This private tour had mixed experiences. The Hanging Bridges portion was not very engaging, though that is more related to the attraction itself, as wildlife is difficult to see without binoculars. The volcano stop was better — the guide provided a lot of interesting and informative explanations, which we appreciated. However, the overall pacing of the tour was disappointing for a private experience. The tour was advertised as approximately 9 hours starting at 8:00 AM, but the day ended around 3:00 PM, much earlier than expected. At the final waterfall stop, the guide clearly seemed to be in a hurry and initially suggested that we only take photos instead of going down to enjoy the waterfall. We had to specifically request time to go down, and even then we were given a strict return time, which did not feel comfortable for a private tour. There was also an attempt to skip lunch and go directly to the waterfall, which would have meant not eating until mid-afternoon. We insisted on having lunch after the volcano stop, which felt much more reasonable. Overall, the tour had good information at the volcano, but the rushed schedule and shortened duration did not match the expectations of a private, full-day experience.
