After a brief trek out of the canyon on a magical trail, hop back into the 4x4 vehicle ready to take you to the next location where you’ll meet the transport for the second adventure of the day – white water rafting at Balsa River.

Embark on an exciting journey with this rappelling and white water rafting trip! Descend through the canyons before navigating through exhilarating Class II-III rapids, under the vigilant supervision of your guides and instructors. The package includes pick-up and drop-off services, lunch, and beverages. Professional photo services can be availed for an extra cost, if desired.

- Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required
- Weather dependent. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is flooding or other government river closure. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund

Two great adventures - Can't say enough about this exciting combo adventure! We are a family of 8, ages 70-38, and this experience was a perfect fit. Every guide was great at making it fun and exciting for the more experienced/adventurous in our group while making those of us less experienced feel comfortable and safe at all times.
The rappelling was exciting and invigorating!
Our white water rafting guides, Esteban and Christopher, were awesome! Skilled, knowledgeable, and fun!
Highly recommend this tour.

Must do experience if visiting La Fortuna area! - Amazing experience canyon rappelling and white water rafting. The guides were very experienced, safe, and fun! The rappelling was exciting, you definitely get wet. The monkey drop is a thrill! White water rafting was just as fun. Our guide Christopher was top notch. Easy to understand, follow directions, kept the experience very enjoyable. Highly recommended excursion!

Highlight of our trip - This was an absolute highlight of our trip! The canyoning was terrifying, but once we got the hang of it, we all loved it. The guides are so knowledgeable and made us feel safe and comfortable.
The rafting was a blast!! Our guide, Danny Boy, was fun, knowledgeable, and funny. He kept us all safe and inside the boat, we stopped for a little swim, and fresh pineapple (the best in the world) on the beach.
Don't hesitate. Book this tour.

Best experience we had in Costa Rica - If I could give this six stars I would. Best experience of my son’s and my ten-day trip to Costa Rica. You start by rappelling down waterfalls as tall as 100 feet and getting dunked into pools - the guides strap you in and actually handle most of your weight as you descend. Thrilling. Then you get transferred to a river an hour away to shoot rapids in a six-person boat. The guide was incredibly fun and funny, all felt very organized and safe, they even pull you out halfway to eat pineapple and watermelon. Finally you finish with a big traditional Costa Rican lunch at a farm where they do pourovers of local coffee and let you taste sugar cane juice and moonshine. It was an epic experience and the perfect capper to our trip. Be sure to bring a change of clothes! We didn’t think we needed to, but would’ve been a lot more comfortable if we had.

Incredible Costa Rica experience! - Thanks for the incredible teams at Pure Trek and Wave Expeditions, our family had one of the most fun and exciting experiences ever! Our family of 5 started the day with waterfall repelling with the Pure Trek team. They made the experience so fun and even though some of us were a little nervous, the guides all made us feel confident and really have an amazing experience! After that, we did the water rafting with Wave Expeditions. They thought of every detail to make it such a special and memorable day. Our rafting guide, Moises, was the absolute best! I can’t say enough good things about him and the rest of the team. After our adventures, we had a beautiful Costa Rican lunch at an organic farm restaurant, and experienced a traditional coffee and sugar cane demonstration with samples and lots of laughs. From the drivers, to the guides to the photographers, every person at this experience went out of their way to make it a very fun and memorable day! Thank you! Highly recommend for your family while in La Fortuna, Costa Rica!

Momo is the best! - This was so fun! We had a fantastic raft guide, Momo. He pointed out lots of birds and other wildlife, and we saw a momma sloth with its baby! If you're a more adventurous rafter and want an exciting trip that includes tricks like spinning your raft through the rapids, Momo is the best!

The single best thing to do in La Fortuna - The full day rappelling/canyoning and white water rafting was the best day of our vacation. In fact, Wave and Pure Trek do such a great job that we did this experience both times we visited Costa Rica!
Everything is so well planned and organized, and the guides couldn’t be better or friendlier. Mariano made the rafting experience feel personal by taking the time to point out animals along the way and taking a route suited to our family and skill level. Our kids (16, 14, and 12) could not stop smiling and laughing.
We recommend this experience wholeheartedly and wouldn’t dream of vacationing to Costa Rica without including Wave and PureTrek as part of the trip.

This tour should be on the Costa Rica Highlight reel - The waterfall repelling/white water rafting experience is absolutely a must do! My experience with Wave Expeditions was flawless. They took care of coordinating and making smooth transitions between each event. Our day started with an unforgettable experience, seeing gorgeous water falls at different level. I am someone who is afraid of heights, the guides were incredibly supportive the whole time making me super comfortable. The guides were all very informative, positive and a delight to be around. All five waterfalls were very different, one even provides you a zip line feel, and you get a nice hike through the jungle. There is a larger incline to hike up at the end, but nothing to deter you. We were provided an unexpected snack between our events. Nice little touch. The white water rafting was the second part of our day. Again, our main tour guide, Enzo, was super knowledgeable with a great personality. The rapids are fast and frequent, with not much lazy river time. Your individual raft guide will coach you through the entire trip down the river. I can’t say enough great things about Carlos, our raft lead, not only did he get us down the river, he took the time to get to know us and educate us about all the wildlife around us. We were even able to see a sloth! From there we headed to a great location for a buffet local lunch and tasting. If you are considering this adventure with Wave Expeditions, even if you are not considering, just do it!! I promise you will not be disappointed.

Awesome rafting experience! - Kervin was beyond excellent, super friendly and happy, made lots of jokes and made everyone feel comfortable. Our raft guide, Christopher was excellent too.
Go in clothes that you don't mind getting soaked. You leave your belongings and change of clothes on the bus and can change after the rafting is over. They provide towels. The included lunch is excellent, a buffet with veg and non veg options.
If you're doing the canyoning/rafting combo - they give you a great snack bag in between both activites with peanuts, a banana, water and an energy bar.

A Too Long Day Rappelling and Rafting - We did a combination tour of the Waterfall Rappelling and Whitewater Rafting on the same day. I did not realize these two activities would be run by two different tour operators. Pure Trek ran the rappelling part, and Wave Rafting ran the whitewater rafting part. These excursions were the highlight of our vacation, but in hindsight, I would do them on separate days because we were exhausted at the end of the day. As for Wave Expeditions, they had way overbooked the date and had to charter a bus to bring all 50 people up to a different river that had the capacity to accomodate so many people. The bus ride was over an hour, but the rafting made up for it. The rapids were pretty brisk and we saw a lot of whitewater. About half way, they had us pull all the boats over and they cut up fresh watermelon and pineapple for a snack. At the end, we changed into our dry clothes, they gave us beer and juice for the kids, and then took us to a restaurant where we had dinner. When we finally got back to La Fortuna, they dropped us off back at our hotel. Overall it was a great experience, just a very long day!
