I loved it!!!! - Tour that is very worth it! Even with rain and cloudy weather the waterfall was beautiful, crystal clear water! It is necessary to descend 530 steps to get there but it is not so steep, worth the walk!

More beautiful in person! - The La Fortuna waterfall is even more beautiful in person! When you are down there, you're surrounded by tall walls of beautiful mossy stone in all sides. The stairs are not slippery at all and have hand railings if you need. A bit crowded but understandably so. There are a lot of stairs to climb back up, so you'll feel pretty tired at the end.

Definitely once in a lifetime experience - OK, I know it’s 500 stairs up and down. Down is pretty easy. Up Is OK just take your time. The people that were gassed, breathing hard and hunched over are the people who walked up 500 stairs without a break. Gigantic waterfall that you can swim in. And if you want an easier swim, just walk down and there are pools to swim in. It’s pretty amazing. You should definitely do it.

Imposing waterfall with bathing facilities. - A very nice waterfall to marvel at and cool off. First you walk down a well-developed path with about 500 steps to the foot of the waterfall. Here there is a platform for beautiful photos and a small area with benches which is suitable for moving. When we were there, there was a relatively large crowd but we found a place for our things and we could go swimming without any problems. A few security staff are monitoring the area, which we felt was very good.

It was very good but a lot of stairs - Long hike back up but completely worth with. I had to carry my 2 year old up in our back pack which made the 500 stairs tough. There were a lot of people down and back with different fitness levels. You can go at your own pace.

Gorgeous waterfall - We got the skip the line ticket to make sure we could go, but there was no line when we got there in the afternoon. There's free parking right out front, which was very handy. There's changing rooms at the top so you don't need to worry about getting into your swimwear at the bottom of the 400 steps. Walk down and back up again in proper shoes though but take water shoes for swimming and walking over the rocks to get that ultimate waterfall photo.

Family waterfall excursion. - Crowded river. Cannot go in waterfall pool as advertisements looks. Steps well maintained. Going up in rain in our bathing suits made it more tolerable.

Waterfall = beautiful, ticket = not necessary - Not very necessary for us. We were here in rainy season and caught a good dry afternoon. You don't have to pay for kids under 8 and that's not clear on the site here. Wonderful experience to see up close. Plenty of spots on the stairs to take breaks, but not an easy climb back up by any means. Not sure what "line" we skipped.
