Peaceful and educational. - Fantastic! We went out at 9:30am and spent a peaceful couple hours kayaking to the mangroves and seeing beautiful wildlife. Lorena was amazing and she had a wealth of knowledge about the area and animal life. We went during low tide so there was no kayaking into the mangroves but rather walking through it. It was actually so cool to do this. The birdlife was so full. Lorena knew so much about the birds and taught us a lot. Would absolutely do this again.

Beautiful morning paddle - They recommended leaving at 5:30 to catch the morning light and that made for a beautiful experience. The water was tranquil and marine life plentiful. Tona was an excellent guide.

Delightful paddling tour - Guide Tona was very good. We paddled safely across a busy boating lane to a nearby island, where we paddled into dense mangrove trees and took lots of photos of birds and ourselves. Paddling back was tougher as headwind had picked up; thankfully Tona towed me to make better speed across the boating lane. Overall it was a very good trip.

Nice paddle, not for beginners - I met with the guide Tano (?) on the malecon. There were two other people on the trip, a pair who used a tandem kayak. All three were fluently bilingual (primary Spanish, spoke excellent English). Sadly I know only rudimentary Spanish. On the paddle through the bay, I was generally pulling up the rear. The paddle was moderately difficult, fighting tide, current, and winds. The were also moderate waves of 2 feet or so. Not a paddle for someone not used to kayaking, not comfortable with waves/wakes, or unfit. During the entire paddle over to the mangroves, which took about 45 minutes (would've been faster if I had paddled faster), Tano spent the entire time with the tandem speaking Spanish. He did frequently check to ensure that I was OK, but I was not able to follow any of the conversation. After reaching the mangroves, we spent only about 10 minutes in them. Tano only mentioned the types of mangroves there. No information about the biome. I had to ask questions to elicit anything about flora and fauna, etc. After leaving the mangroves, we stopped at a beach for 10-15 minutes, where Tano provided bottler water, Gatorade, and fruit. We left and returned across the bay, which only took about 15 minutes as we were now being assisted by the same elements we paddled against on the way out. Overall, a nice paddle in Old Town true kayaks (not sit-on-tops). But not the exploration of nature that I thought I was getting based on the description. I was also not happy that again, although Tano was attentive and safety-minded, I was completely excluded from almost all conversation.

Dishonest or incompetent — avoid - When I booked this tour, my ticket clearly stated that I would be picked up at my hotel. On the day of the tour at the time it was scheduled to leave, they still had not shown up. I then got a text asking if I was coming. When I pointed out that they had promised to get me at my hotel, they claimed it was outside their pickup area. The upshot is that I missed an experience I was really looking forward to. They didn’t even bother to rebook me the next day and obviously didn’t care about my business. Viator (Trip Advisor’s tour scheduling company) provided a refund after several phone calls and emails, but I didn’t want the money — I wanted the experience. If this kayaking company can’t or won’t handle booking properly, I certainly wouldn’t trust them to lead a trip.
