• New Orleans - Travel approximately 30 miles (48 km) along the Mississippi River to reach the airboat departure point from your New Orleans hotel. Depending on your chosen option, you can board a large airboat accommodating 15 to 25 passengers or opt for a smaller airboat with a capacity of six to eight passengers for a more intimate and personalized experience.
• Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve - Embark on a 1 hour and 45-minute tour through a 20,000-acre (8,095-hectare) area of tidewater cypress swamp near the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The airboat, powered by an aircraft propeller, ensures a swift and smooth journey through the shallow marshes. Enjoy the breeze as you glide into bayous bordered by moss-covered cypress and tupelo-gum trees.

Expect to see numerous alligators during the warmer months (and on warmer winter days), some basking on rocks! The guide might even feed the alligators, providing fantastic photo opportunities. Keep an eye out for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons, and ibis. You might also spot a hawk, owl, or bald eagle. In cooler months, watch for white-tailed deer, raccoons, and the large rodents known as nutria.

Don’t miss the indoor exhibits featuring alligators, including an albino alligator.

There are no rideshare or taxi services to this area. Gators are more commonly spotted in summer months.
