Cuyabeno Reserve - The journey begins in Lago Agrio at 9:30 AM. Travelers will embark on a pick-up bus for approximately 2.5 hours to reach “El Puente,” the main entrance to the Cuyabeno Reserve and the last point of modern civilization. Here, a box lunch will be provided before continuing on the Cuyabeno River in a motorized canoe for 3 hours to the Lodge. With some luck, visitors may spot one of ten different monkey species and tropical birds, as this section of the river is narrow enough for close wildlife observation. Upon arrival at the Lodge, there will be time to relax before an introductory tour of the area. After dinner, a bilingual tour guide will provide information about the upcoming activities. Cuyabeno Reserve - An early morning forest activity offers the chance to enjoy nature as wildlife awakens and the jungle comes to life; there is a good opportunity to observe various monkey and bird species. After breakfast, the journey continues by motor canoe along the “turtle path” to visit the Seoqueya community, home to some families of the Siona indigenous group. The guide will explain local traditions and cultures from past to present. In the afternoon, a motor canoe ride along the Cuyabeno River leads to Laguna Grande. Exploring the lagoon reveals the flooded forest (Igapo), a unique tropical jungle ecosystem dominated by towering trees where many epiphytes grow, providing a natural habitat for local birds.
