Excellent day out - The wine experience with Maria was a very pleasant way to spend a day. The trip to Silves was interesting and the glass of wine in the castle cafe a good way to start things off. The lunch under the old olive tree at the vineyard was the highlight. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food delicious. The wine was good and plentiful and having the winemaker there to talk about the wine was a real treat. We returned to Lagos full and happy, a very enjoyable way to spend a day.

Amazing experience - We had a fantastic time with Luis! We booked a food tour for our family of 5 adults and we ended up the only ones on the tour, which was a nice bonus. Luis brought us to a great selection of restaurants that were a nice mix of modern and traditional. All the dishes we sampled were amazing and Luis gave us interesting background on each one. From seared local tuna to flame-grilled chouriço to goose barnacles, everything we ate was fresh and delicious (the polenta was a favorite). He was able to accommodate a garlic allergy for one of our members (no mean feat in Portugal!)
Luis also did a great job explaining the history of the town and showing us some of the sights we passed. He even helped us find a great wine merchant to help us pick out some bottles of port to bring home. He clearly has a great network in the food and bev industry and gave us some good recommendations for further exploration. By the end of the night we were totally stuffed but we managed to power through for dessert!
All in all, we strongly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to eat some delicious food while learning about Portugal, the Algarve, and Lagos. It was easily one of the best things we did on our trip. Thanks Luis for a wonderful experience!
