- Katas Raj Temples - The Katas Raj Temple is a significant Hindu temple located in the Chakwal district of Punjab, Pakistan. This historical and architectural treasure is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and has been in existence since the era of the Mahabharata. According to legend, when Shiva’s wife Satti passed away, his tears formed two sacred ponds—one in Ajmer, India, and the other at Katas/Ketas, which means “raining eyes” in Sanskrit. The abandoned temples, fort, bathhouses, and rest houses encircle a pool sacred to Shiva, attracting thousands of Hindus each April for ritual bathing. Most of the temples were constructed during the reign of Hindu kings over 900 years ago, although the oldest of the Katas Raj temples dates back to the latter half of the 6th century AD. The Pakistani government is actively working to preserve, protect, and restore this site. Visitors can experience a natural wonderland in Pakistan here.

Known as the ‘Museum of Geology,’ it features rocks from the pre-Cambrian period (millions of years old) to the present. The area boasts several stunning attractions, including the largest salt mine in Asia and the second largest in the world after Poland. Additionally, the famous Hindu temples, such as the Ketas Temples, are located near the salt mines.
