absolutely recommended! - one of the best experiences of our trip! Our guide Amet was extremely experienced and taught us a lot about the jungle, and second guide Anton managed to spot every monkey/ape/bird in the area. The treks were well adapted to fitness level, the trek was occasionally tough for us (22-24 and semi fit) but easy to maintain.
We also received more than enough (and incredibly tasty!) food every day from a super sweet and enthusiastic chef. After a whole day of wandering through the jungle, sleeping in the huts was no problem, and especially on the second night we had a beautiful stay with one of our favorite views (small spoiler: waterfall!). The evenings were very enjoyable with our team and often ended with lots of laughter. After the four days we were quite exhausted, but we were able to relax in the accommodation that had been arranged, by far the most comfortable place we stayed during our trip through Indonesia.
Finally, the guides were extremely attentive to local nature and culture, the team consisted exclusively of local residents (so no large foreign companies) and they were very busy recommending sustainable local products.

Respectful staff, Great experience and excellent food - The whole experience was incredible, they picked us up from our hotel in Medan and drove us out to Bukit Lawang. Met us at their accomodations which included a small restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Helmi was our guide along with Anto and they were very considerate with how they taught us about the Flora and fauna of the jungle. we saw 5 orangutans in a group and helmi was constantly looking around for the best places to see and take pictures. Our guides had snacks throughout the day of fresh watermelon, passionfruit, dragon fruit and bananas. As we made our way deeper into the jungle to our camp we met our chef Samisamson, who had tea and coffee ready for us as soon as we got there. There was a great swimming hole in the river to cool off in and ample space to dry our clothes. Samisamson cooked chicken rendang and curry for dinner. The quality of the food was spectacular and there was plenty of it too. The second day we saw more gibbons and trekked around the jungle to the river we rafted down to get out on. Our guides were professional in the way they conducted themselves around us and other groups as well as they way they interacted with the environment.

One of the best experiences ever had! - This local tour was amazing, I cannot recommend enough. We were looked after so well and nothing was forgotten. The tour guides were so knowledgable and friendly - THANK YOU Amed and Ban Bang. Sammy was an amazing cook at the campsite and also looked after us well. The vibe at the hotel is so chilled and relaxed - Dedi Cool is incredible. We got to see all different types of animals and of course the Orangutans 🦧. You need this tour in your life 🧡

YOU HAVE TO DO THIS TOUR!! - Wow. Just wow. What an unforgettable experience. This group of host and guides are incredible, so accommodating and responsive to every question/need and extremely knowledgeable about the jungle and wildlife and plants in the area. We always felt safe and well catered to. We did a bunch of research of where we should go for our trip and we’re initially leaning towards borneo but this tour was so much more seamless than all of the other ones we could find which required expensive flights to remote airports or very very long bus rides. We chose North Sumatra instead and are so glad we did.
We were treated to 5 different sitings of orangutans over our two day trek as well as white handed gibbon apes and a variety of different monkeys, birds and even a (shedded) King cobra snake skin! We were well taken care of with amazing fresh fruit snacks on trail, delicious and fresh fried rice and chicken lunch, and then a whole spread of different food (veg curry, tofu sambal, chicken rendang and more) from our personal chef at camp with coffee, tea, biscuits and plenty of water. The trek is tough, will need decent fitness and some hiking experience and be okay with muddy terrain (bring long socks to tuck over your long pants) but the guides will cater to you and there are easier routes /shortcuts if needed. When you get to camp there’s an amazing river to swim in and time to relax. After dinner the guides have some fun brain games and magic tricks to keep you occupied before bed. For sleeping there’s an open air hut (private) with mat pad and real pillow + sleeping bag with your choice of dome tent or mosquito net. We slept like babies with the sounds of the jungle around us after a full day trekking. Bring bug spray as mosquitos and leeches are inevitable without. Also toilet paper and knowledge that you are camping so there’s no toilet but a “jungle toilet” hole in the ground that is set up at camp. On the way back you get to white water raft in these inner tubes back down the river and it’s so fun and chill with the guides paddling.
The first and last night we stayed at their new build lodge which was immaculate and felt like a 5 star stay. We rode on the back of the guides motorbikes through the jungle to get dinner at Ecolodge restaurant nearby (also where we had the included breakfast) which has both western and amazing Indonesian food (get the gabo gabo and sodo Medan noodle soup). The last day we also got to explore this gigantic bat cave system that had three massive chambers and a guide took us through it (climbing involved) for an hour tour which was super unique and cool- don’t miss it! The ride to and from the airport was also very comfortable (~3-4hrs) but super bumpy so bring gravol if you get car sick.
Other helpful tips not associated with the tour but you will be required to pay for a visa on arrival in Indonesia and at Medan you must pay in CASH (500k IDR per person) which we didn’t know but there are atms at the airport which don’t charge any additional fees. Definitely worth having some cash on you for tipping guides and paying for your dinners on first and last night.
The best part was this group of hosts who truly made us comfortable and ensured we had a perfect trip and we couldn’t recommend them enough!

One of the best experiences I've ever made - I don't actually know what to begin with because the whole trip was just stunning. Everything from the breathtaking nature to the delicious food was more than I've ever expected.
The opportunity to spend 4 days in a nearly untouched jungle and to see Orang Utans in their natural habit showed me once again how precious our nature is. Our two guides Anto and Jojo were helping us at all times and together with the chef Eki I felt welcomed and well taken care of during the whole trip. Eating, talking and playing cards together in the evenings was just perfect after exciting hours of hiking trough the wild jungle and bathing in crystal-clear rivers.
The Jungle Trekking in Bukit Lawang was an absolutely amazing journey for me and my personal highlight of our 4 weeks-trip trough indonesia. I'm genuinely grateful for that experience and will definitely come back!

Well organised and a lot of fun! - Saw so many orangutans, birds and monkeys. Getting an insight into the medicinal plants while taking breaks from walking was a nice touch. Alongside the jungle trekking, the trip to the town to see how tofu, palm sugar and rice are produced was super interesting.
Big shout-out to our guides Helme and Krisman. Very friendly and were very knowledgeable and friendly throughout the entire trek

Such a great experience you should not miss in life - 4 days and 3 nights in the jungle (+2 nights Bungalow after arriving and before leaving)
Most important to say is that no picture could ever show how beautiful the nature and animals are that you will see on your trip (If lucky a lot). The jungle, all its plants and inhabitants are made of such a rare beauty that you should not miss out in life. Our guides where really really patient and helpful so we felt safe all the time. We also had a private cook who prepared especially vegan food for us. The food was so delicious! We were absolutely suprised what is possible only with an open fire and one pott. You should know that this trip is not about luxus. It is about experiencing nearly untouched places. Please prepare yourself with natural soap, toothpaste and uncolored and degradable toiletpaper. You have to wash yourself in the river so it is important to use products that aren't bad for the enviroment. Also this trip is not about touching wild animals. You should know that at least a average Fitnesslevel is necessary. Be prepared to carry your Backpack on your own because your guides will already carry all your food. Be kind. Even if they will for sure offer you their help more than once. If you stay over night I really recommend to take medicine with you for your own safety. Even If it was sometimes really hard I would absolutely do it again. Next time in Bukit Lawang I will do a 7-days- trekking. Thank you so so much!🥰🙏 "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints."

Great tour let down by the guide - I will start with the positives of the tour, the owner was easy to communicate with and book via Whatsapp and phone calls. The tour was well organized with an easy airport transfer. The food was great and there was plenty of fresh fruit to snack on. I saw plenty of wildlife including 5 orangutans.
The reason this review is not 5 stars is that the tour guide Dani was unbearable. I had booked a group tour as I am a young solo female traveler. I was told I would be in a group but when I arrived in Bukit Lawang the tour then let me know (only because I asked) that I would be doing the trek solo with just the guide Dani. I was really annoyed but it was 1 am in the morning as that was the time of my flight and I felt I had little options.
Dani was highly unprofessional over the 3 days, over the top flirting with me. Stating he wanted to be more than friends and tried to touch my hair or legs on multiple occasions. He did not take no for an answer and left me feeling extremely uncomfortable. On the last day, I wanted to say something to the owner but with Dani being there I didn't feel safe. In fact, it made me on edge for the rest of my trip to Sumatra. He guilt-tripped me into not speaking up by saying he has to fund his sister's education and that he needed a tip and a good review. This is not an excuse for the behavior I experienced. This is a massive shame as I feel the tour would have been an amazing experience if I had been in a group with a different guide.
