Jungle Adventure - My wife and I booked the four-day, three-night package in Bukit Lawang this August, and it was one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. The itinerary was perfectly balanced — two nights in Bukit Lawang to ease in and unwind, and then two days trekking in the jungle with an unforgettable overnight stay at the campsite. We saw so many orangutans up close in their natural habitat, which was truly magical. Our guides, Hafizh and Henry, were outstanding — knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the jungle and its wildlife. They made us feel safe and looked after while also making the trek fun and adventurous. At camp, we were spoiled by delicious food prepared by the chef — an amazing touch that made the whole experience even more special. The combination of adventure, wildlife, and warm hospitality made this trip unforgettable. If you’re thinking about doing a jungle trek in Sumatra, I can’t recommend this experience enough!

We had a great time! - We spent time on a tour with Hafizh and Henry over 1 night in the jungle and a night either side in Bukit Lawang We LOVED it! We saw lots of wildlife including orangutans up close and ate some great food. Bukit Lawang is also a lovely communal village and you can swim in the river right by your guesthouse. The jungle accommodation is very open and the hikes are serious so don’t be fooled - but a worthwhile experience

Memorable and well organised trip to trek, camp and see orangutans. - This tour was brilliantly organised. I was picked up at the airport and driven to Bukit Lawang. The accommodation was very nice by the river. I met the guides on arrival and had a briefing about the trek. The trek was great. Our guides Rendy and Hendrik were fantastic. They were friendly and knowledgeable. The trek was quite long and hard with lots of steep ups and downs but we had lots of stops and saw orangutans and different types of monkeys! The guides packed lots of delicious food for us. The camp was great, we slept by the river, had more great food cooked for us. The next day we swam and relaxed by the river and then returned to Bukit Lawang on the river raft which was so fun! Overall a great and very well organised experience!

A lifelong dream come true! - We have just had the most amazing experience on this jungle tour. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to see orangutans in the wild. We not only saw six of them, but five other species of monkey too. This included the Thomas Leaf monkey that is only native to North Sumatra. I feel very privileged to have experienced this incredible adventure. The trip back to Bukit Lawang via Jungle Raft was amazing fun - a great way to end our trip. Our guides - Rendy and Henrik - were both brilliant. They were friendly, fun and knowledgable, which made our experience even better. Thanks to them and all the team for making my dreams come true :)

Absolutely Fantastic - Absolutely fantastic!! See Bukit Lawang arranged our whole trip including the accommodation, return taxi to Medan, the jungle trek, visiting the elephant sanctuary and a day visiting the bat caves with lunch freshly cooked on the river. Everything was perfect from their communication to their organisation of all the activities and their amazing guides that took such good care of us. The entire experience was exceptional! We absolutely loved the jungle trek, seeing 9 orangutans and the food was surprisingly good! The night in the jungle camp was a unique experience and the rafting was great fun! We made the most fantastic memories and cannot recommend using them for your stay highly enough.

Adventurous and unique experience - a must-do on Sumatra! 🦧 - We did a 4-day/3-night orangutan jungle tour in Bukit Lawang, including an overnight stay in the middle of the jungle – and ES was an unforgettable experience! Even the start was smooth: We were picked up from the airport on time and brought safely to the village. The tour itself was perfectly organized. There were three of us on the road and we had two great guides – Arnold and Toni – who led us through the jungle. They adapted exactly to our fitness level, were attentive at all times and provided us with exciting information about flora, fauna and of course the orangutans. An absolute ES highlight was to observe several orangutans – both wild and semi-wild – up close, including mothers with their babies. Really impressive! The food on the way was delicious and more than sufficient. Sleeping in the jungle was a little adventure in itself – with the night sounds, fireflies over the tent and a real feeling of nature. On the last day ES went back to the village by tubing on the river – a super fun end to the tour. Conclusion: The tour was perfectly organized, our guides top, and the experiences unique. We can recommend this tour to anyone who loves nature, animals and a little adventure!

Bukit Lawang is the best kept secret in Asia! - Best trip ever Dolat iur guide was the best! We saw 8 orangutans including 2 mothers with small babies. We felt safe and secure the whole time. More food than we could eat and they surprised me with a birthday cake because they heard it was my birthday. The hike was much more strenuous then we anticipated but worth it and the campground was very fun and even it July not hot or sweaty by the river. Bring changes of clothes because you will sweat thru on the hike. I never write reviews but had to for this because our expectations were blown away. Ganjing or “Henry” our assistant guide was so helpful and kind and our cook Ali made delicious food and good coffee too! I would recommend the tour to everyone who like adventure and wants to get out of their comfort zone for a day. And Bukit Lawang may be my favorite holiday town in the world, the locals see the kindest nicest people! Don’t wait, book it!!!!!

ES was a... - ES was an impressive experience to see in the jungle of orangutans. The first sighting was unfortunately a bit unpleasant, DA there were many other groups in the forest and then about 100 people were hunting the monkeys. Many have walked off the path into the forest to be closer and closer to the monkeys and in some cases they have also been lured from the trees with food. ES here would be nice if the guides (also from the other providers) would point out the distance to people, so that you can do these tours more with sustainable and ecologically valuable behavior. The overnight stay in the jungle was definitely great and our two guides Rendy and Isan really did a good job. Rendy knows a lot about the local nature and way of life and you can have a wonderful conversation with him. In addition, you were very well and often provided with food;)
