Extraordinary, need of good fitness, sure-footness - Very well organized:
With Senta from The Jungle Guide we also booked a privat car that brought us from Medan to Bukit Lawang.
Firman welcomed us in our hostel in Bukit Lawang the day before our trekking of 2 days and gave us all information about what to bring with us and so on.
Don't forget to bring new clothes for the second day, the clothes don't dry during the night. I advice a rain cape e.g. for bikes that als covers the bag pack. It still rains end of May, thundetstorms or light rain is possible.
DIMAS, our VERY GOOD guide cared of every step we did, made many stops, brought best food in his back pack, sang with us the Jungle Song when the path was of steep slippy cley, full of roots or stones and while it took much energy to climb up and down the hills. He always wanted us to feel good, smiled so much, made jokes and respected the animals by not speeking to loud and beeing quiet while they were near!
Our pedometer said: about 7-8km, from 9am to 6pm. Little rain sometimes.
It was really worth it: We saw 9 Orangutans!! Even a male Orangutan with his beloved lady, mothers with jungsters, Long- and big-tailed-maquaces, some Thomas Leafs and Gibbons shouting loud in the deep valley far away.
We walked the longer way called "Pic trail" to the camp, had one rest a bit further on than two other little groups and suddenly a big herd of Long-tailed maquacs, about 30, with small babies passed our place, wild, not used to humans, not waiting to get food, behaving naturally.
Also a big Argus pheasant walked by almost 3m away!
We always had enough time to observe the animals. But some other trekkers or guides spoke loud simetimes. Near Bukit Lawang the Orang Urans are not shy like in other places. So it didn't borthers them. We could come close to them.
A semiwild Mama feet her baby sime meters beneath us!
Dimas gave us many additional information about the animals, plants and trees and his knowledge about phyto medicine and how he can prepare it.
The hut for sleeping is basic on the foot of the mountain and the matresses are on a concrete base with good mosquito nets. During the night Dimas put a candle light at the door. Don't forget a lamp. They have a real toilette in a hut and you can call Dimas or the cook if you need help during the night.
There were 2 or three other huts with two other little groups.
Other camps are a little bit further on.
The dinner was excellent! In the middle of the Jungle! With Firman I could ask for vegetarian food in advance.
You can have a bath in the river. It is not deep . We didn't see one! ;-)
Insect repellent: Deet was good. I advice desinfection spray on mosquito bites or screches and a little emergency kit. One giant ant bit me and I sucked out the ammonia.
We had our trekking shoes from the Alpes, but if you must walk in rivers on longer trekks the shoes you can buy on the webside with Senta might be better. Or bring extra shoes for the river trekks. They walk the rivers along.
We brought 3l water for the 2 days and drank much tea and coffee in the camp they cook on fire. The best tea I ever had!!
The second day Dimas brought us to the river for rafting after walking time about 4 hours, 6h in total.
The cook was the skipper and did it very good! It was a big fun and we saw on the way a big lizards tail. Was it a Komodovaran? And one Orang Utan again.
They have plastic sacks to put all bags inside! We used bathing clothes and T-Shirts.
I really can recommend The Jungle Guide with Dimas as a really helpful, careful, friendly, positive guide, very experienced, always smiling, happy of trekking together with us.
And the unexpected discover at the end was that Dimas found a Amorpho phalus gigas!
We booked another tour "Giant Flower" on the webside with Senta, again with Dimas and found two!!
Again a wonderful day with relaxed barbecue at the river!!
THANX A LOT!
Stay well!

Urangutang Bungalow. - We have been to Sumatra to see Urangutangs. What a great experience.
Recommend on the wildest to book through Urangutang Bungalow which is the most fantastic place to stay, their staff is outstanding and this trek is awesome.
Get Robin as your guide. The coolest guy, funny and full of energy.
Also booked a city tour with him. He's fantastic.
If we could give 10 stars, we did.
Nothing was bad.
Not disability friendly.

Beste Jungle Tour Ever - When My girlfriend and I wanted to travel Indonesia to see the Ornag Utas as well, friends absolutely recommended us to do the Jungle Tour in Bukit Lawang and it was the best thing that could happen to us, Santa who organized everything in advance for us (also German speaking) was super nice and accommodating. When she also offered us to stay in their newly built bungalows directly everything was perfect. The accommodation was just a dream practically in the middle of the Jungle but yet walking in 10 min in the Centurm of Bukit Lawang. The bungalows were built economically so that almost no nature was injured that is also that main focus in the construction of the complex what you really notice everywhere in the accommodation, but you still lack nothing. Once on site Sandy had welcomed us and told us everything about the place, the bungalow complex, the Jungle and Naturally the orangutans. We have arrived directly and felt at home. The next day we went to the Jungle, it took barely 30 min When we saw the first orangutans and also the next day many more. In addition, there are a lot of other monkey species, birds, insects and a lot of different plant species, all of which were explained to us very forcefully, of course, by Our very dearest tour guide OLKEY, to him you just have to say we have already met many tours and tour guides all over the world but Olkey and his team has a place in our heart, his professional, informative, loving and also funny way is simply unsurpassed, you did not feel like if you were just following a tour guide and he told a stram something, you felt directly like friends or even family with him. You could ask him anything and through his years of experience he could explain everything to us. Also that food what there was between through and especially in the evening at the camp on the tour was excellent that best local food what we had eaten in almost 2 months Indonesia, which is prepared by our favorite chef Alberto on site in the middle of the Jungle. Where you also spend the night dirket by a river where you can cool off and wash after the strenuous day and just watch the sounds of nature in the evening. At the end of the tour you come to Bukit Lawang via the best way ever back across the river you will be rafted by the guides on swimming rings there is no better way back. We will definitely come back next time we are in Indonesia and recommend everyone to book through The Jungle Guide accommodation and tour otherwise you just miss something. We loved it❤

Enchanting Experience in Sumatra Forests with Jungle Guide - I had recently done two day trek with Jungle Guide. My experience had been amazing with Sumatra jungles and Orangutan. We spotted 5 different Orangutan and few Thomas monkeys . The jungle trek with jungle guide staff was amazing experience inside jungle and their hospitability and support reaching summit. They support out of box for getting good image of orangutan. I do plan to visit this enchanting place with Jungle Guide again and again.

Highly recommended! - The tour was great from start to finish. Communication with the whole Organga team was problem-free and very straightforward.
We were picked up free of charge from the parking lot where the tourist buses arrive and we were immediately told everything for the tour the next day.
Our guide Wahyu was super friendly, explained a lot and paid attention to us and helped even in somewhat more difficult places. The food was just super delicious, versatile and plentiful. So you are not put on a diet even in the Jungle.
The guide, the assistants and also the extra chef have always contributed to a great and extensive mood.
So the tour via Jungle Guide is definitely recommended ! It was a unique experience and we would definitely book again with the same provider.
Thanks to the whole team 🌞

Jungle adventure with small kids? Yes, with The Jungle Guide! - We fulfilled a dream and traveled to the jungle of Sumatra with our two small children (5 years, 9 months). Senta was there to help and advise us in advance of our trip and went through all the details of the individual travel components with us - so we could look forward to an exciting adventure in Bukit Lawang without worries. Our expectations were more than exceeded! Senta and her team gave us a great welcome on site. All tours, drivers and appointments were perfectly organized and reliable. And yes, you can also go into the jungle with small children.
The Jungle Guide provided us with three guides doing everything they could to ensure the safety of our little one and to help our older one become a real jungle boy. He still raves about his best friend Aseng from Sumatra! The three of them showed us the bat caves, visited the local market with us and rafted with us on the Landak River, including a fantastic barbecue. Our highlight, however, was the 3-day jungle tour they organized, on which we got to know the incredible flora and fauna of Sumatra. Of course, this also included up-close observations of the orangutans. We felt in great hands and safe at all times. A trip like this with small children is absolutely possible, but also not for the faint-hearted :). We'll be back!!!

Amazing experience - The guides were amazing guys! Compliments to Dimas, Roji and Habibi for guiding us. We found the orangutans on both days of our trek, besides all other amazing animals. We also stayed at the lodges in a beautiful location with a great view.

Great experience but not perfect - A huge WOW for the trek itself and the orang-outans and the other type of monkeys we saw. It’s not an easy walk in the jungle. Many times it was very steep to climb and to go down , like very!! But that could also be fun and adventurous. Make sure you have good trekking shoes. It is very hot in the jungle so keep that in mind with your clothes and make sure you bring a second set of clothes for the second day because it’s very humid in the jungle and nothing dries. Also for the evening, bring some additional light clothes if you don’t want to stay in your completely drenched trekking clothes. Food is quite good. The guides are super nice, the only problem for me was that they smoke cigarettes a lot, like really a lot and it was disturbing. Even during the trek, we would take a break and they would smoke 2-3 cigarettes in 10 minutes. Not only it’s hard to avoid the smoke but it’s bad for the environment and the animals. If I were to go back, I would ask for a non smoking crew, if they exist. It was that bad! Also note that you will spend your evening sitting on the ground, eating on the ground ans sleep on a very rudimentary mattress and pillow, not comfortable at all.
