A bucket list and must do activity. - We wanted to real off-road experience that we couldn’t get anywhere else. We found it! Our guide (Shane) was amazing and all of the support crew was fantastic. Mike (our driver from the hotel to the event and back) was friendly and funny. The Mini Baja is not your normal ride. You race to keep up with your driver/guide and he will go as fast as you want (if you can keep up). But safety is always first and they are always watching out for you. Definitely worth it!

Fun adventure while visiting Las Vegas. - I highly recommend trying out SunBuggy's Baja Chase — our group had a blast! Shane was an awesome guide who really made the experience memorable, and Mike was a fantastic shuttle driver who got us to and from our hotel safely and comfortably.

Incredible Dune Buggy experience - First off, my shuttle driver Lance was super friendly, drove safe and provided a fun ride to and from the tour. My guide Kody was awesome! He was courteous, friendly and provided me with an incredible experience across the desert. We raced around the dunes at a thrilling speed. The whole tour from door to door was a blast and I’d highly recommend to anyone who likes an adrenaline rush.

Great adventure - Upon arrival, you complete your check in, select your helmet and goggles, and then watch a brief safety film. You can select which helmet you want and also choose between tinted or clear goggles. The tinted goggles act as great sunglasses. You can put all of your valuables in a secured locker so that you don't lose anything on the ride. Then a van takes you on a short drive to the desert. That is where we met our guide MJ. He was very helpful to explain everything. He led us on a fun, bumpy and dusty adventure. The dune buggy is very easy to drive. After 30 minutes, MJ stopped and we got out of our buggy to enjoy the views of downtown Las Vegas. MJ also took lots of photos of us with his phone and then sent the photos to our phone. One hour was plenty of time to enjoy the ride. This was the second time that we have done the Mini Baja Chase and definitely recommend it to everyone.

Amazing Experience! Just a small logistical issue. - I did this experience with my 16 year old son and my father. This was an absolutely awesome experience! If giving it 4.5 stars was an option then I would do that. The only reason that I am not giving it five stars is because the company itself, SunBuggy Fun Rentals, does need to work on a few logistical issues. Our shuttle driver was 1 hour 13 minutes late picking us up from our hotel, and he was a HORRIBLE driver. I'm not in the dune buggy experience business, but I would think that it would make sense to have more than one shuttle driver as a contingency plan. But when we arrived at the facility itself, the young lady behind the counter did make up for the inconvenience by extending our riding time for free. The shuttle driver that transported us from the facility to the driving grounds was excellent. Our dune buggy adventure guide, Victor was the best! His dune buggy had broken down and at first I thought that it was a little annoying. But when we continued the ride, and I got to experience the abuse that these machines take it is understandable that no matter how well built they are (which they are) they will have some mechanical problems from time to time. His boss brought him out a new dune buggy and we continued the ride. It was awesome!!!!! And they again extended our time to make up for the mechanical issues. My advice to anyone trying this for the first time would be to follow the instructions of the pros, especially your guide. They do know what they are talking about. A pair of driving gloves may not be a bad idea either. Victor was an awesome guide and we had an amazing time! Despite the hiccup with the shuttle driver from the hotel to the facility, we will definitely book this again with the same company, SunBuggy Fun Rentals! I highly recommend!

It seemed like a great idea but did not go according to plan. - My husband and I came to Vegas and decided to try something new. We purchased 1 hour dune buggie adventure with a guide. It was ok. The driver was nice, employees friendly, they had water available, and they picked us up at the hotel.
However I gave it 3 stars,
because of the following....
We were supposed to hsve a 1 hour experience of un-interrupted dune buggie driving. We all went lut in a grouo of around 5 dune buggies and 1 guide. 10-15 minutes into our adventure, one of the dune buggies broke down. We all had to wait about (20 min in the desert sun) until someone came with a spare dune buggie to replace the broken down one. Once replaced....we started up again. Then about 15-20 in....another dune buggie broke down. We had to wait once more another 20 minutes in the desert sun, for someone to bring a replacement dune buggie.
Two broken down dune buggies in 1 hour...olus a total of an extra 40 minutes, just waiting for someone to come and replace the broken ones. By that time the experience was no longer an experience...we just wanted go go back.
I'm not saying things don't happen. But 2 broke down dune buggies in 1 hour is not our idea of fun.
Then we got back to the initial site, and had to wait about 30 minutes to be driven back to our hotel. All in all...we were supposed to start at 10am and be done in 1 hour...we ended up getting to our hotel 3 hours later.
It was disappointing, hot, and exhausting.
We might have had back luck...maybe this doesn't happen all the time, but it happened to us. For that reason, I cannot give it more stars

Hard Pass - Lots of waiting. 4.5 hours waiting, 30 minute ride. The dunes are cool but the waiting would make me pass on this one. I think they just weren’t organized in order to keep things moving…arrived off the shuttle and wait, watch safety video and wait, get fitted with goggles and helmet and wait, get off the shuttle at the dunes and wait, get done and wait for the shuttle back to the office, wait at the office to catch a shuttle back to hotel.
The waiting wasn’t great but the behavior of the shuttle driver back to the hotel makes this one a hard pass. He and another employee were fighting as we got on the shuttle. Awkward. I tried to make small talk and he yelled at me. Should have gotten off and got an Uber but we stayed. He sand every lyric of every song, especially the ones that were inappropriate. Read the room (smh) I had my 12 and 17 year old with me. Road raging with all the drivers, cursing and gesturing. Then we end with a PSA about how terrible Vegas is with human sex trafficking and drinks that get ruffied. Yikes!

Less than impressed, especially safety - I want to start out and preference I don't typically leave reviews, let alone this long. After our experience, I wanted to give others a honest perspective before they make the decision to spend the $$$ we did for this. We are an adventurous family, and love to try different experiences as we travel. We did a RZR tour with a different company earlier in the week and it was absolutly amazing. It was more money, but well worth it. Safery was their #1 concern. Hence, this is not about the cost, but what we received for the cost. We were really looking forward to this. Unfortunately we left feeling less than impressed. First, the good things. The driving experience itself and our guide Shane were great. Speeding through the dessert was super fun. He made sure to never push more than the ability of the group, yet challenged us. Several times members of the group got mildly stuck in the sand. In both cases, Shane hiked back up the hill he just traversed down to help. Each time he was able to help with the situation and get us back on the road. We purchased the 60 minute experience in a 4 person buggy. We were told there would be a break midway. The second half ended up being much shorter than the first half. While we were out for the 60 minutes, any time we stopped, including the times people got stuck and the break, was part of the 60 minutes. So the actual time behind the wheel racing was less. Now the disappointments. I requested pick up at our hotel online per the instructions. It showed as such in the reservation, but I never got any correspondence about pick up time, etc. Then I got an email indicating I needed to choose a pickup spot. When I clicked where it said, the info was already there. I also completed all the waiver info online, but kept getting texts asking me to go online and complete it. They ended up giving us the paperwork in the shuttle to complete again. There is obviously an issue with the online platform. I had to contact the company to get pickup information. They then sent an email saying they had updated the reservation with the pickup spot and 11:45 pickup time. At 10:45 in the morning, I received a call from the driver saying they would be there at 11:15 for pickup. I was surprised as we were planning for 11:45 per the message the night before. We split the difference and agreed on 11:30. We ended up waiting until after noon before they showed up. They did call several times with updates, which was helpful. We also understand that they can't control traffic, other people, etc. so we weren't upset at that. As soon as we eneterd the van that is when the big issues started. The van itself was VERY run down and dirty. There was no air conditioning. The seals on the doors were broken and you could see the sky through them. The seatbelts looked like they hadn't been used in years. On the way back the driver wasn't paying attention. Traffic stopped abruptly and a guest riding shotgun had to motion to him to stop. If he hadn't, I am not sure he would have stopped in time. The whole thing felt very much like an assembly line. Get you in, get you out. I was also concerned about safety. We went into a room for helmets. Many were broken and old. No one helped or looked to see if they were sized properly. My son chose one helmet, and luckily tried to buckle the chin strap before we left. It was broken and would not latch. If he hadn't checked he would have been left to ride with a broken helmet. My daughter didn't fair as well. All of the goggles were old and VERY worn. You were left to try and find the best option out of no great options. The ones she chose appeared to be ok, but once she put them on over her helmet at the start of the ride, the seal separated from the glass leaving a HUGE gap. She could not keep her eyes open while on the trail because the dust and sand were flying in her eyes. The staff had cigarettes hanging out of their mouths as they checked us in at the launch site. I dont care if you smoke, but I do care when it is right in my face, literally. Very unprofessional in my opinion. The safety video said the buggies would have the seatbelt latches locked indicating they had been checked out and signed off by the staff for safety prior to departure. Instead we entered very worn vehicles with nothing latched. They did not appear to have been checked in a long time. My seat buckle was frayed and would not stay tight. Others were twisted and difficult to get to sit in place properly. The staff breezed by, not really looking or checking to see if people were properly secured unless you asked. My lap belt would not tighten, when I asked for help an attendant tried, couldnt get it much tighter, then told me it shouldn't be a big deal. It truly made me concerned from a safety standpoint. Another party in the overall group said he could not get the brake to engage regularly. He said he told the guide and was told that was normal. When coming in at the end he coud not stop and rammed into the vehicles in front of him. The guides had already motioned for us to get out before all the vehicles had stopped. I was half out of the vehicle when he hit. I ended up smacking my back on the bar. He got out looking shaken up. While I completely understand, these are rough conditions, the lack of concern by the staff to insure the safety of the participants was concerning. Safety for any experience should be firsr and foremost. At the end our guide asked us to rate him and that he needed us to specifically mention we felt safe. It was almost as if they knew there were issues and placed the burden on the guide, who we appreciated, to try and convince us to rate well for his sake. We decided the best option for us was to tip him well to show our appreciation of him and leave an honest review. After having experienced MANY different excursions over the years in many different locations, this was definitely in the bottom three on our list. I would highly recommend looking into other options in Vegas. The only reason for the 2 star rating was because of Shane and his dedication to making sure we had a good time despite the other things that are out of his control. Otherwise it would have been a 1 star.
