This installation features seven towers of vibrantly colored, stacked boulders, each standing over thirty feet tall. Situated in the Ivanpah Valley, it is surrounded by Sheep Mountain and the McCullough, Bird Spring, and Goodsprings mountain ranges. Seven Magic Mountains offers a creative expression of human presence in the desert, adding a poetic burst of form and color to the Mojave.
• Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign - The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is a renowned Las Vegas landmark, funded in May 1959 and erected shortly thereafter by Western Neon. Designed by Betty Willis at the request of Ted Rogich, a local salesman, it was sold to Clark County, Nevada. The sign is positioned in the median at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South, north of the historic stone pillars of the old McCarran Field on the east side, and opposite the Bali Hai Golf Club and the (closed) Klondike Hotel and Casino on the west side. Many consider the sign to mark the official southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. Like most of the Strip, the sign is located in Paradise, approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the actual city limits of Las Vegas. Such distinctions are often overlooked by both locals and tourists, who refer to the entire metro area as “Las Vegas.”
