- Spring Mountains National Recreational Area - Start your adventure by traveling down Blue Diamond for approximately 6 miles. On the left, you’ll find a Terrible’s/Chevron gas station, where you can use the restrooms, grab some snacks, and refuel your vehicle. After the gas station, continue on the 160 for about 12 miles. As you reach the summit of the pass, you’ll come across a fantastic biker bar called the Mountain Springs Saloon. It’s highly recommended to stop by!
After visiting the saloon, it’s about a 5-minute drive downhill to Lovell Canyon Road. Turn right here and continue for 5-6 miles until the road starts to curve right. This is where you’ll find the Sunset Overlook. If it’s occupied, there are plenty of spots along the cliffs where you can set up. Most cell services have reception here. Sunset times vary depending on the season, so be sure to bring warm clothing as it can get chilly at night.
