- Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area - The Red Rock region boasts a rich geological history that has shaped its stunning landscape over millions of years.
Red Rock Canyon offers a 13-mile scenic drive, hiking trails, diverse flora and fauna, and remarkable geological features. The area is renowned for its impressive red rock formations, including sandstone peaks and walls formed by thrust faults like the Keystone Thrust. These walls can reach heights of up to 3,000 feet (910 m), making them a favored spot for hikers. The highest elevation is La Madre Mountain, standing at 8,154 feet (2,485 m).
The area’s first inhabitants were drawn to Red Rock due to its abundant water, plant, and animal resources, which were scarce in the surrounding desert. Historical groups such as the Southern Paiute and the ancient Archaic, or Desert Culture Native Americans, have lived here. Today, numerous petroglyphs and pottery fragments can still be found throughout the area.
- Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center - The Visitor Center serves as an educational hub, offering indoor and outdoor exhibits, plant specimens from the canyon, and live Desert Tortoise habitats. Restrooms are also available for visitors.
