Well worth it!! - This tour is not for the faint of heart. Today is day 2 since the hike and my calves and thighs are still pretty tight. The hike has areas that are very narrow and steep but it is well worth it. Tour guide, Mio, is amazing. He is easy to talk to, funny and provides a wealth of information about the island, the rainforest and its occupants and so much more. He’s like a walking Wikipedia! We were hiking at a descent pace so it took us 6.5hrs total. The lake was at a simmer that day but it is still quite a wonder to set eyes on. We crossed several rivers and saw some waterfalls along the way. On the way back, I was blessed to enjoy the downpour of a warm waterfall on my shoulders. Absolutely stunning views along the entire way with blue/green pools in the rivers and some that are blue/gray due to the potency of the volcanic minerals. Dominica is truly a blessed country in nature. We got to boil an egg and you can collect your own natural clay from small volcanic pockets. Mio calls it nature’s natural proactive. Funny enough, I paid $25XCD the day before for a small amount but thankfully had a ziplock bag to scoop some fresh clay— which I have on my face as I’m writing this review! 🤪 At the entrance of the hike is Titou Gorge and we got to jump in and swim up to see the two beautiful waterfalls at the end of our hike. Following Mio’s direction made it so much fun and a lot easier to push against the heavy flowing current. That part was actually the best part of my visit to Dominica. I highly recommend this company and especially tour guide, Mio.

Boiling Lake Hike - AllTrails is serious about the challenge of this hike. Lots of people did the hike without a guide, but it was obviously a mistake to not have a guide due to the challenge and remoteness of this hike. Despite being sore for a few days after, I loved every minute of this hike and would recommend it to anyone with a foundation in physical fitness

A hike you shouldn’t skip and a great guide to do it with - Leaving this review 5 months too late but better late than never, right? I can’t speak for other guides but ours, Antoine, was amazing - extremely knowledgeable, patient, and friendly! Thumbs up from us! PS Better make this hike before it becomes very touristy with the new cable car transport system that is being built in that location (unfortunately).

This is not an easy hike... - This is not an easy hike but it has the best views on the island. It's an experience you can't get anywhere else. Antoine was very knowledgeable about the trees, plants and wildlife, along with the history. He was very patient and accommodating. He makes it look easy! Not for the feight of heart. Wear good shoes and go at your own pace. Bring lots of water and good snacks and wear a bathing suit. If you can, definitely take a dip in the sulfur river.

Challenging with unbelievable views! - The hike was the hardest I have ever done but the scenery and experience was much worth it. 8 miles of constant hiking up and down the mountains was challenging and the last hour back was the hardest. It took us 7 hours round trip and my legs were feeling it.

Worth to join! - It is well worth to visit the boiling lake. However, this trekking is tough and I suggest people to have some exercise (if you do not do exercise) prior to joining the tour. The guide John was very friendly and made explanation of nature.

Incredible hike! - The Boiling Lake challenge was SPECTACULAR! A highlight of our trip. Our guide was Anton, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly: we learned a lot about Dominica and its local plants, wildlife, geography, culture and foods along the hike. We hope he writes a book. He was great company and one of the best guide experiences we have ever had. The hike itself is challenging but rewarding. The views are incredibly beautiful and varied to the point of sensory overload. We highly recommend the Boiling Lake challenge to any hiker who is interested! Thank you!

Beautiful, but a bad guide - This hike was everything I’d read about: both incredibly beautiful with fascinating scenery and physically taxing almost to the point of impossibility. Our taxi driver Naithan was super friend and very kind to me after the hike when I was suffering with bad cramps. I wished he’d been our guide, because our actual guide (Peter?) was not kind and seemed like he didn’t want to be there - only providing information in response to direct questions and not encouraging us when we were struggling. My fellow hikers and I took care of each other. In short, I would recommend this hike only if you’re ready to persevere for the fabulous nature experience, and only with a different guide

Get a guide recommendation. Difficult but incredible hike. - The hike and views are breathtaking (literally) and worthy of a 5-stars review. My disappointment was with our guide. The positives: He did get us there and back safely and point out interesting stops along the way including a spring fill up of our water…which was awesome. He also brought a couple of eggs to boil in one of the hot pools. The negatives: I was with my wife (54) and two young adult daughters (21 & 18) and apparently he kept hitting on my daughters through the hike, making them uncomfortable. In addition, my wife was moving slower on the way back as her knees were giving her trouble on the descending stairs. He was visibly frustrated by having to wait for her to catch up. We completed the hike in a little over 8 hours which is maybe 15% longer than the 7 hours I’ve seen others complete. We tipped him for the additional time. This is a people business. He never asked anything about us: our names, where we were from, etc. we met other guides on the trail who knew more about us just through a casual encounter. Our guide was clearly knowledgeable about the area and the trail but has a lot to learn about people and different cultures. Get a recommendation on a guide if possible.
