An excellent opportunity to sample Fiji's natural and cultural beauty, and to stretch the legs! - I had the great pleasure of visiting Abaca village and the Koroyanitu Heritage Park on the waterfall walk with Raymond, Paul, and Ben in early June 2025. The quick version of this review is that the walk is very worthwhile, as a medium grade walk perfect for folks with basic walking fitness and decent footwear. There is at least one river crossing that likely requires wading, and in wet conditions, the track can be muddy and slippery. The organisers and guides are amazing and can be relied upon for an excellent experience. The long review: We booked the walk fairly late on the evening prior, and set off in the morning with great expectations. We were collected from Denarau by Paul and Ben, who were immediately friendly, welcoming, and very professional. A fun and interesting drive north toward Lautoka saw us joined by another small group as well as some tour consultants from Rosie, who joined the trip to experience the new product they now offer. We arrived easily in Abaca village, where the walk started after a short briefing and park entry was settled by the team. The walk begins quickly, and I won't lie - it is a good test of your legs for the first kilometre, with steady ascent up a clear access road to the first stop. At this clearing, a further briefing is held, and the hiking begins down a more regular hiking track. This winds quickly down to the first river crossing which can usually be achieved without wet feet. From there, a further steep climb has you arrive at the 'Pizza Hut' - a sturdy hut with stunning views down the valley toward Lautoka and the coast, and up the valley to several waterfalls (especially if there has been recent rain). One of our party chose to wait here and reported a comfortable hour taking in the sights while we walked the remaining kilometre or so to the waterfall. The track continues at this point, around the valley edge through thick and beautiful jungle. The river soon appears to your right, and a final crossing which did require some shoes-off wading, or very nimble rock-hopping reveals the waterfall itself. To say this is spectacular is a substantial understatement. We stopped for about 25 minutes for a swim and photos, in the crystal clear but bracingly cold water before beginning our return. As always the walk back flew by, and we were soon back at Abaca, where one of the ladies from the village had prepared an absolute feast for us. We thoroughly enjoyed a traditional meal of tasty, well prepared, and caringly presented food in her own home. It was a real treat to sit in the doorway of their house, with a plate of great food on my lap, looking up through the village to the mountain looming overhead. I encourage anyone who wants to get off the tourist circuit, and has a cultural or natural environment interest in the beautiful Fiji, to do this walk, and to support Ray and his team, as well as the local village, who are providing these experiences. Vinaka vakalevu! ..

Fantastic way to experience the island - Raymond is an awesome guide. There are 3 trails to hike and he chose the one that fitted our abilities perfectly. He is very knowldgeable about the birds and plants. He found wild pineapple, bananas and many other native plants. The waterfall was beautiful. After the hike, a local women made us a delicious lunch in her home in the traditional Fijian manner.

The best day in Fiji - What a wonderful day! We were picked up by Ray and driven to the national park where we hiked to a waterfall, stopping for water/photo breaks. Even though it was drizzling, the photos of the waterfall & hike were amazing & Ray took care to make sure we didn't slip on the rocks/mud. We spent the day walking and talking, learning more about Fiji culture which was really interesting. Plus there were stops to talk through the various native plants (ginger, pink guava, traditional soap, lemongrass, and many more!). The village was a wonderful touch, it's a great chance to try traditional Fijian food if you haven't before. Could not recommend this more!

Total Awesomeness - My family and I went on this adventure trip where the team picked us up in Nadi and dropped us back (9am to 230pm). A lovely adventure with a combination of a scenic road trip, a guided hike, dip at the waterfall, further swims at other pools and a lovely Fijian spread by the village of Abaca. As a local, I highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience A++++ - This was an amazing tour and the highlight of my stay in Fiji. The scenery was beautiful and it was a pleasure to chat with my tour guide Ray, who owns the business. As a solo female traveller, l felt very safe and comfortable with him. He is a genuine person with a passion for sharing this beautiful natural environment with visitors. I also learnt a lot about Fijian culture and daily living from him. The walk is only accessible by 4WD so it is very peaceful. There were no other people on the mountain when l was there. There is a toilet at the entrance booth to the national park which you can use on the drive up and down. I found the walk itself quite easy with plenty of breaks where Ray described how Fijians use certain plants. I took a refreshing dip in the small pool at the bottom of the waterfall then had some time to sit, chat and soak in the beauty before walking back down the mountain. Thank you so much Ray for such an amazing experience!

Great walk with a great guide! - The walk to the waterfall was a nice, relatively easy wonder up some paths and dry river beds. Ray was great and gave lots of information about the area, the plants and animals, the folklore of the park and beyond, and answered all of our many questions. We had tried to get up to the park in a hire car with essentially 0 clearance and couldn't make it up, so I was very pleased we found Ray's tour!
