- Historic Center of Galatina - The transfer from Lecce to Galatina takes about 30 minutes. The tour will pause near the main square, allowing for an independent visit to the Baroque church of “San Pietro.” Nearby, the small chapel of “San Paolo” features a well that, according to tradition, could heal those bitten by the poisonous tarantula spider. This is why the town is famous for the mystical and esoteric ceremonies of “Tarantismo,” which inspired the local folk dance “Pizzica.” Galatina is also celebrated for its delicious pastries, crafted for generations in local pastry shops. At the most renowned shop, visitors can indulge in the famous “Pasticciotto.”
- Basilica of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria - Strolling through Galatina’s old town, visitors will encounter several aristocratic palaces before reaching the late Romanesque Basilica of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria, constructed in 1390. The interior boasts frescoes by artists from the “Giotto school,” making it the second most significant church in Italy for its pictorial cycles, after the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi.
- Piazza Salandra - In Nardò, visitors can opt for an independent wine tasting at one of the region’s premier wineries. The cellar offers tasting experiences of wines produced from original vineyards, paired with appetizers. Taralli and focaccia bread accompany a three-glass tasting, while typical cheese is included with a four-glass tasting. The full experience, featuring five glasses of wine, also includes a cold cuts platter. Prices range from 30 to 40 euros per person, payable at the winery as per individual needs. (Advance booking is required, closed on Sundays, and subject to availability). If the wine tasting is not conducted, time can be spent at subsequent stops, such as the beaches, or exploring Nardò’s historic center, a charming medieval town with numerous historical baroque buildings, the Castle, the Square, and many Churches. The most beautiful is the Basilica Cathedral, founded in the 11th Century, but all are unique.
- City Beach at Santa Maria al Bagno - Transfer to the Ionian coast, passing through Santa Maria al Bagno with its charming city beach and delightful seaside restaurants (with the option to stop for lunch), the four towers fortification built during the Aragonese period to protect a freshwater source, and the cut mountain, leading to the white beaches of Gallipoli.
- Padula Bianca Beach - Stop at Rivabella beach. Here, visitors can enjoy the area in a lovely pine forest, where a short walk leads to a stunning free beach as well as private lidos. Visitors are encouraged to bring swimsuits and towels to enjoy the beautiful sea.
- Historic Center of Gallipoli - Gallipoli, the Ionian pearl, is divided between the modern city and the historic one. The ancient part is situated on a small island, connected to the mainland by a bridge that ends with the Greek fountain, the oldest in Italy. Visitors will have free time to explore the historic center, characterized by narrow streets with local handicraft shops, charming baroque churches, and aristocratic palaces. Additionally, visitors can stroll along the castle walls, enjoy a drink on some lovely terraces by the sea, or savor the typical sandwich “Puccia,” filled with seafood specialties.
