Leh-Uleytokpo (70 Kms / 2 Hours) - A Day to Acclimatize

Uleytokpo - The operator will meet you at your preferred location, either at a hotel in Leh (3,200 meters above sea level) or at Leh Airport (arriving at Leh Airport is recommended) in the early morning. Enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive southwest of Leh on the Srinagar-Kargil Highway, following the Indus River through the picturesque landscape of Ladakh, to reach the quaint village of Uleytokpo. Nearby, you will find two of the region’s oldest monasteries. Spend the rest of the day acclimatizing at a resort nestled among apricot and apple orchards.

Uleytokpo - Monasteries and Lamas - Lamayuru and Alchi Monasteries

Lamayuru Monastery (Yuru Gompa) - After a leisurely breakfast, travel further southwest for about 45 kms / 1 hour to visit the Lamayuru Monastery.

Alchi Monastery - Following lunch at your resort in Uleytokpo Village, head northwest for approximately 15 kms / 30 minutes to the small village of Alchi, home to the Alchi Monastery, the oldest in Ladakh.
