Leiden - Gather at 11 a.m. in the arrival hall of Leiden’s central station, just a short train journey from Amsterdam. After enjoying lunch and a brief orientation, take a leisurely walk through Leiden’s picturesque city center. Follow the “footsteps of Rembrandt” and visit St. Peters Church, where the Pilgrims prayed before departing to Delftshaven and eventually sailing to Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Noordwijk - Later in the afternoon, transfer to a delightful four-star hotel in Noordwijkerhout, near Holland’s renowned tulip fields and scenic dunes. After fitting your bike, embark on an optional warm-up ride through the stunning tulip fields near the sand dunes. This evening, learn about the next day’s itinerary and the week’s schedule while savoring a delicious Dutch dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Noordwijk – Keukenhof - Vogelenzang – Noordwijk – 25 miles
Keukenhof - Start the day with an early visit to Keukenhof, the world’s most magnificent flower garden, featuring over 6 million bulbs beautifully arranged among captivating outdoor sculptures, ponds, and fountains. Originally the 15th-century kitchen garden of Countess Jacoba van Beieren, this vibrant display is a photographer’s dream. After visiting Keukenhof, cycle north to Vogelenzang, pausing in a tulip field for a group photo. Post-lunch, join Herman van Amsterdam, a historian, writer, tulip expert, and local resident for over 30 years. He will accompany the group, sharing insights into the history of the tulip fields and the bulb planting and harvesting process. He’ll address any questions about the local tulip industry. Travel through prosperous villages, admiring blooming private gardens and more tulip fields! Dinner is at your leisure tonight.
Noordwijk - The Hague - Delft (37 miles)
The Hague - Bid farewell to the tulip fields and leave Noordwijk, cycling through Holland’s beautiful sand dunes (rolling hills!). Pass through Katwijk, a charming former fishing village, and continue to the Wassenaarse Slag. Here, exit the dunes and cycle past the elegant estates of Wassenaar. Follow a winding bike path through lovely woods, arriving at King Willem Alexander’s private mansion. Continue biking to the center of The Hague, where you’ll admire the impressive buildings of the Dutch Government and the king’s official palace.
Delft - Enjoy a hearty Dutch pancake lunch before biking the twelve kilometers from The Hague to Delft, where accommodations are in the town center. Before reaching the hotel, visit a Delft pottery factory to see the creation of the famous “Delft Blue” china. Dinner tonight is the renowned Indonesian “rijstafel,” featuring a variety of dishes served on warming plates at the table. It’s a delightful feast that everyone enjoys! After dinner, take a short orientation tour of Delft to plan activities for the following morning.
Delft Roundtrip (20 miles)
Delft - Spend the morning exploring Delft’s historic center on foot. Consider visiting the New Church (completed in 1380), where William of Orange is buried, or climb the bell tower for a stunning view over Delft’s red-tiled roofs. Browse the town’s many shops and boutiques. For lunch, if adventurous, try the famous “new herring” at a six-hundred-year-old fish stand near the magnificent town hall.

After spending delightful days cycling safely on flat bike paths and minor roads, you can look forward to four gastronomical dinners consisting of three or four courses (Dutch cuisine at its finest!).
