At the break of dawn, embark on an adventure to observe the Wild Red Deer with a knowledgeable guide in its natural surroundings of picturesque mountains, bogs, heaths, grasslands, and woodlands in Connemara. The most thrilling period for deer observation is from early to mid-October, when the red deer engage in their courtship rituals during the brief season known as the ‘rut.’ During this time, hormonally driven males put on a remarkable display as they compete to gather their group of females. You may hear them barking or the sound of antlers clashing among the trees. This adventure includes a walk in the Connemara National Park to observe the deer and may also involve following your guide by car to explore this wilderness area in search of the deer.
