Very good peak into the history of our country and into her life and what made her the way she was. - It was very interesting. I did not realize that they had four children, and I did not realize that Mary Todd had a stepmother.

A jewel in downtown Lexington - I don’t know how many times we’ve driven past the Mary Todd Lincoln house and never dropped in. It was one of the highlights of our most recent trip to Lexington. The house has been beautifully restored and is meticulously maintained. The gardens in back are lovely, too. Each room has several interesting plaques that describe the people as well as the furnishings that occupied those rooms. Our favorites were the simply furnished nursery and warming kitchen, the latter of which doubles as a gift shop. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful or gracious. A truly worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

Nice home and self guided tour. - After a tour of the Henry Clay home we drove 10 minutes downtown to see the Todd home. Nice well furnished house with some of the original items to the family. We did not do the guided tour but each room has printed info and Bill was in the entrance hall to give us more information and answer any questions. We saw everything in a little over an hour and free parking is behind the home. After you leave here it is then just a 2 min drive to the huge Henry Clay memorial at Lexington Cemetery.

Must Do in Lexington - What a great place to visit. The furnishings and art and household items illustrate the life of a middle class family in the 1800’s in Lexington and in particular the environment in which Mary Todd Lincoln lived. There are very well informed docents to answer any questions. The exhibits and rooms all have excellent descriptions of the items and their history and meaning. The Todds owned slaves and this topic is handled with honesty, care and sensitivity based on historical facts and an objective assessment of the times in which they lived. In addition the museum store is great with a good collection of books about Mary Todd Lincoln, children’s books and toys, Christmas ornaments etc. The lady in the bookstore (I am sorry I did not get her name) is a historian. I enjoyed my conversation with her, hearing her insights into Mary Todd and her life and sharing my thoughts about the biography by Jean Baker I had recently read. I found this an interesting and moving place to visit

A luscious trip into history - As a lover of history, I so enjoyed touring this home. And, it is easy to feel that it was a home. The staff was so elegant in discussing this history of the house, the family and Abe Lincoln. I could just imagine being in this house on a quiet evening. The information was also disseminated in a way I haven’t seen before. In each room, there were several laminated sheets, telling the significance of items in the room. When several people are in the room, they can get the information easily. And in addition, there is staff in the rooms, to answer questions.

A bit of history, takes < 1 hour - We visited this as a 'rainy day activity'; we learned some new historical facts. The house was fine, not the prettiest inside but worth doing.

Quick tour for history buffs - A good, quick tour of the Mary Todd Lincoln house. Lots to look at. They had a scavenger hunt for kids that my 9 and 13 yo daughters had fun with.
