A grand Day Out - This was a really special day with Mark driving us through the Yorkshire Dales.9am and we left the lakes and headed for the dales.Mark knew every nook and cranny of the dales and proceeded to present our day with information and humour. We visited villages, some with markets and some with places where tv filming had gone ahead from All Creatures Great and Small. We saw viaducts including Ribblehead, and because of road closures,we visited alternate places of interest.Eventually we visited he Wensleydale Creamery and took advantage of the cheese tasting, leading to purchases such as butter ,cheeses, and chocolate. We visited Bolton Castle for lunch.Eventually, the day ended at 5.15 pm back at Windermere. Thanks Mark.

A fantastic tour with a knowledgeable guide - We ended up being the only two people on the tour but Derek our driver and guide gave a fantastic service. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about everywhere he showed us and although road closures often came along he always had an alternative route. A highly enjoyable day in the Yorkshire Dales.

Wow, what a tour! Trevor is a star! - This was such a brilliant tour! Suitable for all ages! We were away for my 40th and my husband had booked this as part of my birthday trip to York. We were also with our 8 year old son. Trevor was our driver and tour guide - what that man doesn’t know about York! He was so informative, friendly and a brilliant driver. It was so much fun finding out about all the history, geography and famous locations as we travelled around. I 100% recommend doing this tour if you are visiting York - it’s a long day, but SO worth it!!!

A few special moments from the Dales - A special day out. We travelled arrive the north Yorkshire Dales from York. I'm a big fan of the Yorkshire Dales and this day trip included some - but not other natural moments around the Dales. The view from Beggarmans Pass (see photo) was thrilling. Aysgath falls was in full flow.We spent a little too long in Grassington and Hawes. Ripon with its cathedral world have been more suitable. Our driver was full of knowledge and made the trip more interesting.

Our Tour on Feb 13th - We had the absolute pleasure of being taken on the Yorkshire Dales “All Creatures Great and Small” tour by Ben A, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Despite the poor weather conditions on the day, Ben adapted the tour seamlessly. He thoughtfully adjusted the itinerary to make sure we still had a fantastic experience, avoiding the worst of the weather while ensuring we didn’t miss any of the key highlights. His flexibility and calm approach made all the difference. What really stood out was how personalised the tour felt. Ben took the time to tailor the experience to our interests, sharing fascinating insights, local history, and behind-the-scenes details about All Creatures Great and Small. It never felt rushed or scripted — it felt authentic and genuinely curated for us. His knowledge of the Yorkshire Dales is exceptional, and his passion for the area shines through. Even in less-than-ideal weather, the landscape was stunning, and Ben made sure we saw it at its best. A truly memorable experience — professional, personable, and expertly delivered. We would absolutely book with him again.

Herriot Country - A good day out exploring Herriot Country. Although some attractions closed as was in the early New Year. Barry was able to provide excellent information on the whole area.

Tour not as advertised - switched once on board. - This was a nice tour if we had wanted to tour the Yorkshire Dales (a different tour offered by Mountain Goat) but we had booked and were expecting the James Herriot All Creatures Great and Small tour. After the tour bus had set off, we were informed that, due to road works, our itinerary had changed. This was very disappointing, and we should have been told before we boarded the bus, that morning or the day before. I really wish I had asked to be allowed off. The driver was very nice and did his best to make this an enjoyable day, but James Herriot was mentioned only once in 9 hours. We were driven across the famous puddle which appears in the tv series, but were given no warning that it was coming up and had passed it before I could get my camera. This one minute constituted the entire ACGAS content. Bolton castle (which is a ruin) was on the original Itinary. The only information received about the ruin was that Mary Queen of Scots had unsuccessfully tried to escape. No more information was forthcoming. When I googled James Herriot information that evening, I found out that both the author and the fictional character had proposed to their wives there. Not a mention was made of this. I did enjoy the Wallace and Grommet exhibit. We were then driven around for hours on the Yorkshire Dales. In my opinion, instead of this massive waste of time we could have been driven to the township which was filmed as the stand in for Darrowby in the TV series. We could also have found more opportunities to eat in a larger town. I gave this tour three stars because our driver was lovely and did his best to make this an enjoyable day, but I give Mountain Goat a zero as they completely wasted a day of my holiday on a tour I didn’t want and was not given the opportunity to decline. Even if the roadworks made the original itinerary redundant, there must have been other, much more relevant places to tour. This was a disappointing day.
