Arrival in Lhasa
Lhasa - Upon arrival at Lhasa Airport or Railway Station, our team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. The journey from Lhasa Airport to downtown Lhasa typically takes about 1.5 hours, while from Lhasa Railway Station, it takes approximately 20 minutes. Once you have checked into your hotel, you are free to explore the city at your leisure, but please avoid overexertion. Resting well on the first day is essential for acclimatizing to the high altitude. Be sure to stay hydrated, eat lightly, and avoid showering if possible.

Lhasa Suburb (B+D)
Drepung Monastery (Zhebang Si) - In the morning, you will visit Drepung Monastery, which translates to Monastery of Rice Heap in Tibetan. The monastery is expansive, with white buildings that blanket the hillsides. Drepung Monastery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, once housing over 10,000 monks. The first to fifth Dalai Lamas were enthroned here, and it serves as the “mother temple” for all Dalai Lamas, making it the highest-ranking monastery in the Gelug Sect.
Norbulingka (Precious Stone Garden) - In the afternoon, the tour continues to Norbulingka, a quintessential Tibetan-style royal garden and the Dalai Lama’s summer retreat. The garden is filled with towering trees, exotic flowers, and plants, along with numerous cultural relics, Buddha statues, pagodas, thangkas, and murals, all of which are invaluable treasures.
Lhasa Suburb (B+D)
Jokhang Temple - At noon, the tour guide will take you to a nice restaurant for lunch and a break. In the afternoon, you will visit Jokhang Temple, located in the heart of Lhasa’s old town. Jokhang Temple is the holiest temple in Tibet and is always bustling with devoted local pilgrims.
Barkhor Street - This is one of the most revered circuits and a bustling central market in Lhasa. Barkhor Street is an ancient circular street surrounding Jokhang Temple, and locals take great pride in it. As a symbol of Lhasa, it is a must-visit for tourists.
Lhasa > Gyantse > Shigatse (B)
Yamdrok Yumtso Lake - Yamdrok Yumtso Lake: The stunning Yamdrok-tso (elevation 4441m) is typically first seen from the summit of Kamba-la (4700m). The lake is situated several hundred meters below the road and, in clear weather, displays a magnificent deep turquoise hue. In the distance, the massive Mt. Nojin Kangtsang (7191m) can be seen. Along the way, we will pass by Mt. Nojin Kangsang and its Karola Glacier.

Mt. Everest Base Camp - Breakfast is not included this morning, and you will understand why once you arrive. Tibetan breakfast options, such as noodles and zanba, are available for about CNY 30. It is highly recommended to bring some snacks, instant coffee, etc., with you.
