The journey follows a shaded path upriver, with stops at five different pools, and passes through a stone canyon, caves, and small waterfalls until reaching the canyon entrance leading to La Leona waterfall. Here, belongings are placed in a drybag before a short swim to the waterfall. The waterfall features a stone beach perfect for photos, and a delightful pool for a splash before lunch.
THE TRAIL IS SUITABLE FOR INTERMEDIATE HIKERS AND FEATURES MANY ROCKS AND ROOTS. PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TRAIL’S DIFFICULTY. THE FINAL PART OF THE TRAIL INVOLVES SWIMMING TO THE WATERFALL, AND LIFEJACKETS ARE PROVIDED.

Along the way, a knowledgeable local guide will help you spot wildlife.
The journey takes you along a shaded path that follows the river upstream, with stops at five different pools. You’ll pass through a stone canyon, explore caves, and see small waterfalls before reaching the canyon entrance leading to La Leona Waterfall. At this point, you’ll secure your belongings in a drybag and swim a short distance to the waterfall. The waterfall features a stone beach perfect for taking photos, and there’s a delightful pool for splashing around.
A professional local tour guide and a traditional Costa Rican lunch are included.

The trail is rocky and has many roots. Some sections require swimming and river crossing. Life jackets are provided.
