A Day of Thrills and Surprises

As a seasoned traveler and surfer, I’ve had my fair share of adrenaline-pumping experiences, but the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano Adventure was something else entirely. The day began with a sense of anticipation as we gathered at the meeting point, surrounded by fellow adventurers eager to dive into the day’s activities. The air was thick with excitement, and I could feel the familiar rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins.

The ziplining course was the first on our agenda, and it did not disappoint. As I soared through the canopy, the world below became a blur of green and blue, the wind whipping past my face. The added elements of rock climbing, a Tarzan swing, and rope rappelling were unexpected bonuses that elevated the experience to new heights. Each activity flowed seamlessly into the next, allowing us to move at our own pace and savor every moment.

Horseback Riding Through the Mountains

After the exhilaration of ziplining, we transitioned to horseback riding. The horses were well-cared-for and responsive, making the ride through the mountainous terrain a joy. While the views weren’t as expansive as some open areas, the intimacy of the forest and the rhythmic clopping of hooves created a serene atmosphere. It was a reminder of the simple pleasures in life, much like catching the perfect wave on a quiet morning.

The river tubing that followed was a highlight of the day. The Rio Negro’s rapids were at a thrilling Category 3, providing just the right amount of excitement. As we bounced and splashed our way downstream, the sight of butterflies fluttering around us added a touch of magic to the experience. It was a reminder of why I fell in love with Costa Rica in the first place – the perfect blend of adventure and natural beauty.

Relaxation and Reflection

After a day filled with action, the promise of a hearty lunch was a welcome reprieve. The food was delicious, offering a variety of options to satisfy any craving. While the bar service was a bit slow, it hardly mattered in the grand scheme of things. The real treat awaited us at the hot springs.

The Rio Negro Hot Springs were the perfect way to unwind after an action-packed day. Each pool offered a different temperature, and I couldn’t resist trying the 113-degree pool. The heat enveloped me, soothing my muscles and providing a moment of pure relaxation. It was the ideal way to reflect on the day’s adventures and appreciate the beauty of the world around me.

This adventure was a reminder of why I love this nomadic lifestyle.
