Lijiang–Shaxi Old Town. Overnight in Shaxi

Old Town of Lijiang - China - The driver will greet you with a sign displaying your name at your Lijiang/Shuhe hotel lobby at 9:00 am, then transport you to Shaxi Old Town, a journey of 2-2.5 hours covering 110KM.
Note: Pickup can also be arranged from Lijiang train station or airport, with flexible departure times.

Yunnan Shaxi Ancient Town - After a 2.5-3 hour drive, you will arrive at Shaxi Old Town. The driver will assist you with hotel check-in, after which you have the rest of the day to explore. You can stroll around Shaxi Old Town, visit Shaxi River, Xinjiao Temple, the square stage, and ancient courtyards with locals.
Shaxi was historically significant as a bustling trade station on the Tea and Horse Caravan Road, a vital Silk Road branch. Over a thousand years ago, this ancient trade route linked Tibet with Eastern China. In exchange for Yunnan teas, Tibetans traded their renowned horses to Song Dynasty officials in eastern China, who were defending against northern invaders. Thus, the Tea and Horse Caravan was established, with Shaxi as the main trade station along this route.
Although Tibet and China no longer trade along this route, Shaxi retains its border-town charm. The cobblestone alleyways remain unchanged from a thousand years ago. Various minorities, including the Yi and Bai, gather every Friday at the Sideng Market, where mountain villagers descend to trade their goods.

Shaxi–Dali. Tour Conclusion.

Yunnan Shaxi Ancient Town - In the morning, the driver will meet you at 9 am or any time before 5:00 pm to transfer you to Dali Old Town, a 2.5-3 hour drive covering 130KM.

Dali - After a 2-2.5 hour drive, you will arrive at Dali Old Town. The driver will assist with hotel check-in, and you have the rest of the day free, marking the end of our services (drop-off at Dali train station is also available).
Dali is the heart of the Bai minority region and the ancient capital of the Nanzhao Kingdom. The city is strategically located at the crossroads of highways to Myanmar and Tibet, and globally between Kunming and Lijiang. It is renowned for its white marbles with gray features. Despite its 1900m altitude, the region enjoys a temperate climate year-round, attracting many Chinese city dwellers seeking respite from eastern China’s pollution, as well as Chinese artists, making it a bohemian region in some respects. Nestled between Cangshan Mountain to the west and Erhai Lake to the east, its location is exceptional, making it a prime destination in Yunnan for relaxation and leisure.
