Old Town of Lijiang - China - The tour guide will greet guests at their hotel lobby at 09:00 am or at Lijiang airport/train station, and the first stop will be the Lijiang Old Town.

World Heritage Park, Lijiang - The tour will proceed through the South Gate of Lijiang Old Town. Along the way, there will be visits to Mu’s Residence (entry fee applies if entering), Lion Hill (entry fee applies if entering), and Wangu Tower. Guests can stroll through the charming old streets and lanes, soaking in the leisurely atmosphere of the town. This exploration will take a couple of hours. Lijiang Old Town is one of Yunnan’s most enchanting ancient cities. Despite being largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1996, it was swiftly rebuilt, aided by its UNESCO World Heritage status. Lijiang is the heart of the Naxi minority, known for its unique culture, including a religion and writing system with over 1,000 pictograms. The culture and ambiance of Lijiang Old Town make it a delightful place to relax and unwind for a few days.

Lijiang Mural in Baisha Village - Next, the tour will head to Baisha Village, where visitors can explore the Dongba pictograms, the mural paintings in Dabaoji Palace, and the ‘ten thousand camellia blossoms’ tree. Baisha means ‘white sands’ and was the first settlement of the Naxi people after migrating south from the Tibetan plateau. It was once the political, commercial, and cultural hub of the powerful, yet enigmatic, Naxi Kingdom. The region became part of the Yuan Empire in the late 13th century. The Mu family, who governed Lijiang from the late 14th to the early 18th century, originated from Baisha. The area was also a significant part of the strategic commercial network known as the Tea Horse Road.

Black Dragon Pond Park - Following this, a private car will take guests to Black Dragon Pond Park. Here, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. This park is a landmark of Lijiang, renowned for its exquisite beauty and listed among the Famous Pools of China. The surroundings are lush with greenery and shaded by swaying willow trees. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is reflected in the pool’s waters. On the far side of the pool, there are renovated buildings used for art exhibitions, such as the Moon-Embracing Pavilion with its white marble bridge, and the Five-Phoenix Temple, built during the Ming Dynasty.

Shuhe Ancient Town - After lunch, there will be a leisurely walk in Shuhe Ancient Town. Shuhe, or ‘Shaowu’ in the Naxi language, means the village at the foot of the high mountain. Historically, a high mountain named Jubao stood behind the village, giving it its name. Shuhe Ancient Town is located 4 km northwest of Lijiang Ancient Town. Its central area covers about 5 square kilometers with a population of around 3,000. In 1997, Shuhe was recognized as an important part of Lijiang Ancient Town, which was already designated a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO.

Old Town of Lijiang - China - The tour guide will meet guests at their hotel lobby at 09:00 am and transfer them to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a 50-minute drive covering 25 km.

Yulong (Jade Dragon) Mountain - The visit may start with the Snow Mountain via cable car to Spruce Meadow or with White Water River, depending on the schedule of the Impression Lijiang Show, which varies daily between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm and lasts for 60 minutes. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is easily accessible through a system of cable cars that transport visitors to various parts of the mountain. The 13 peaks, home to several glaciers, remain snow-covered year-round. Different altitudes offer changing landscapes, with serene meadows transitioning to snow-covered paths and glaciers. The choice to visit Spruce Meadow via cable car is due to its lower altitude (3300M) and fewer visitors compared to Glacier Park, along with its beautiful views.

Lijiang Impressions Show - Next, guests will attend the Lijiang Impression Show. This outdoor performance, featuring traditional songs and dances by local ethnic people from villages around Lijiang, is held at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, just outside the main building, at scheduled times.

Blue Moon Valley - Afterwards, a private car will take guests to White Water River (Blue Moon Valley). The Blue Moon Valley is a strikingly blue river winding through a lush valley of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. From a distance, it resembles a blue crescent moon nestled at the mountain’s base, giving it its beautiful name. However, blue is not the river’s only color. If it rains, the white mud and limestone rubble at the riverbed are stirred up, turning the water as white as milk. Hence, the local Naxi people call it White Water River (Baishui River).

Lijiang–Tiger Leaping Gorge–Drop off at the Lijiang airport/train station

Old Town of Lijiang - China - The guide will meet guests at 09:00 am or at a time that suits their flight/train departure, which can be discussed with the guide the day before.

Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia) - After purchasing the entrance ticket, the driver will take guests to the gorge. The hiking tour will begin at the upper part of Tiger Leaping Gorge. A 15-20 minute walk along the plank road leads to the viewing platform on the valley floor. The powerful currents of the Jinsha River roar through the narrow valley, with waves crashing against the rocks. Guests are encouraged to have their cameras ready to capture this breathtaking view. At the narrowest point, a giant rock, 13 meters (43 feet) high, sits in the river’s center, splitting the torrents into two branches. The surging waves crash against the rock with a tremendous roar. A special viewing platform is available for visitors to fully appreciate this impressive scenery and take photos.

Guests will have 1.5-2 hours to enjoy the stunning scenery of the gorge. Afterward, they will return to the parking lot with the guide.

Lijiang - Finally, a private car will transport guests back to Lijiang airport/train station, concluding the services.
