Lima to Paracas by Bus: Mysteries of the Nasca Plains
Nasca Lines - Early in the morning, guests will be transferred to the bus station for departure to Paracas. Upon arrival, they will head to the local airfield for a flight over the Nazca lines, massive drawings visible only from the sky, depicting various insects and animals such as a monkey, hummingbird, condor, and spider. The origins of these lines remain a mystery, with many believing them to be an astronomical calendar. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the hotel amenities and surrounding areas. Paracas National Reserve & Bus to Lima
Islas Ballestas - In the morning, guests will embark on a boat tour to the Ballestas Islands. En route, they will see “The Chandelier,” a giant figure etched in the sand, similar to the Nazca lines. On the islands, visitors can observe sea lions, pelicans, Humboldt penguins, and other seabirds. Afterward, they will be transferred to the bus station for departure to Lima. Upon arrival, guests will be transferred to their hotel for an overnight stay in Lima.
Lima to Arequipa by Air (Flight Not Included). City Tour
Historic Centre of Arequipa - Guests will be transferred to the airport for departure to Arequipa (flight not included). Upon arrival, they will be transferred to their hotel. The morning is free for leisure. In the afternoon, a tour of Arequipa’s highlights will begin, featuring the beautiful Colonial district of San Lazaro, the Carmen Alto viewpoint with views of agricultural terraces and surrounding volcanoes: Misti, Chachani, and Pichu-Pichu. The tour continues to the Yanahuara Colonial district, known for its Andalusian-style church and viewpoint, and the Santa Catalina Monastery, a remarkable religious monument closed for about 400 years, with narrow streets, squares, and gardens reminiscent of Seville or Granada. The tour concludes at the Main Square, showcasing its stunning Cathedral and surrounding stone arches, and a visit to the Church of the Society of Jesus, founded in the 17th century by the Jesuits, renowned for its cloisters and the magnificent San Ignacio Dome. The viewpoint offers a stunning view of the canyon’s depth, one of the deepest in the world. The tour continues to the towns of Maca and Yanque, which still preserve their colonial churches. The journey continues to Racchi, the Temple of the Wiracocha god, notable for its walls and narrow streets. Assistance from staff will guide them to board the bus ascending a winding road with a spectacular view of the Urubamba River, forming a deep canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, welcomes visitors with its incredible terraces, staircases, ceremonial sites, and urban areas, exuding energy throughout. Lunch is provided. At the coordinated time, guests will return by train and be transferred to their hotel in Cusco. Overnight stay.
