Journey from San Jose to Pacuare River

Pacuare River - Embark on our overnight Pacuare Adventure, a thrilling Paddle and Hike expedition. Experience the excitement of rafting through various rapids, and enjoy hiking to untouched waterfalls, delightful swimming spots, and lush primary jungles. This package includes at least one hike per day, tailored to your athletic and adventurous preferences.

On the first day, tackle 13kms (8 miles) of continuous class III whitewater, featuring a total of 14 rapids. Arrive at Pacuare River Lodge shortly after noon, just in time for lunch. Afternoon activities offer optional hikes, river fishing, or simply relaxing in a hammock.

Pacuare River Lodge embodies the essence of wilderness. Nestled beside the river in a primary forest, it provides safari-style accommodations with spacious, comfortable walk-in tents set on large wooden platforms. The gardens are meticulously maintained, harmonizing beautifully with the natural surroundings. Modern toilets and showers are available for your convenience.

Braulio Carrillo National Park - Enjoy a scenic drive through this stunning national park en route to Pacuare River. The pristine rainforest is the second largest national park in Costa Rica, with the highway running through it.

Pacuare Reserve - Join your naturalist tour guide for an ecological nature walk in the rainforest near the lodge.

Second Day of Rafting and Exploration

Pacuare River - Begin the second day with a hot, freshly brewed cup of Costa Rica’s renowned coffee. After a hearty breakfast and packing our gear, the river descent continues.

All class IV rapids are encountered on this day, providing an opportunity to truly test the skills acquired on the previous day. The second day is considerably longer on the river, covering 23kms (14 miles) and about 30 rapids. Two stops are made: one for an enjoyable exploratory hike and another for a riverside lunch.

The adventure concludes in Siquirres, at our private Exploration Center, where you can shower, change, and relax in the gardens and terrace while enjoying a drink and reflecting with new friends on the incredible adventure shared.

Afterward, return to your hotel in San Jose.
