Excellent Private Tour - Note on Admission Costs - We had a fantastic private tour from the Puerto Limón cruise port with our guide and driver, Manuel. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and navigated our day to ensure we saw the best of the area.
The tour was perfectly paced. First, he drove us to the Veragua Rainforest, arriving ahead of the large bus tours.
(Note for future travelers: The tour provides transportation to Veragua, but the admission fee of about $80 per person is separate and not included. This admission covers the park's excellent internal tour, which featured an amazing gondola ride down through the rainforest canopy to the river.) Because we were early, we also had a private guide here.
After Veragua, we enjoyed a relaxing small boat ride through Tortuguero Canals. Manuel arranged a boat and captain. They both pointed out multiple sloths, iguanas, and monkeys in the wild.
We ended with a late lunch at a local seafood restaurant that overlooked the town and our cruise ship in the port.
We highly recommend this tour for a comprehensive and flexible day in Costa Rica.

A very pleasant experience and unforgettable moments. - I went with a family group. Oscar and Yovani met us at the port on time. They offered us first-rate Service at all times. Both knew a lot about varied subjects, history, flora and fauna. Throughout the trip they were very chatty and helpful. Transportation was comfortable and airy. The itinerary flowed as planned. We went to Veragua forest. The park is nice. Our tour was guided and the common areas were clean. We saw a lot of animals and exhibits. The cable car was also cool. There are light snack shops and souvenirs. After the forest we visit the Tortuguero Canals. We loved the tour and saw a lot of fauna including sloths very closely. The barges are comfortable and clean. Service was super good. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and unforgettable moments. We finish at Quimbamba Restaurant to eat. They welcomed us soon and assigned a quick table. The beach view is relaxing. The place is spacious and cool. The menu is very varied. Service was good, food is exquisite and portions are huge. Breaded fish and chips are divine. The local beer is very good too. We loved this excursion and recommend this Enterprise 100%!

Amazing day! - Our cruise ship recently stopped in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. We had booked this tour with Relax Day Tours, 'Veragua Rainforest and Tortuguero Canals'. What a fantastic day!
Our guide and driver, Estevan, was incredible... he was friendly, kind, patient, and helpful! He shared so much knowledge and information about the area.
The Veragua Rainforest was lovely! We really loved our tour there... the gondola ride with rainforest views, the wildlife /animal exhibits, the relaxing walk among the trees and plants. Beautiful place!
Next, we enjoyed a boat tour of Tortuguero Canals. It was wonderful to see the wildlife up close, and it was very peaceful!
At the end of the tour, our guide even brought us to a local supermarket to buy coffee (at a good price)... we appreciated this very much.
Thank you to Estevan, for a wonderful day! I would recommend this tour company, to anyone.

Venagua Rainforest is... - Venagua Rainforest is absolutely beautiful! It's not really a wildlife experience, but the jungle is gorgeous. We did see tucans in a tree while in the aerial tram. Our guide, Evita, was very intelligent, and pointed out animals we could not otherwise see. Especially if you are on a cruise, I highly recommend Venagua Rainforest. And Relax Day Tours gave us a wonderful experience after the rainforest in the Tortuguero Canals where we saw sloths and kaymens.

Lots of animals on the Veragua and Tortuguera Canal trip - This was a really good excursion. It’s a long day, 71/2 hours but there is so much to see and do. The Veragua rainforest guide was really excellent. Darrio was his name. Very engaged with the areas and found a lot of critters for us to see. The tram to the waterfall was beautiful as was the all to the falls. The Tortuguero canal cruise was very cool. Saw a number of sloths, crocodiles, caymans, birds and monkeys. I think we got lucky but it was a lot of fun.

Great day - Fun day exploring the Rainforest and canal. Our guide Steve was great. Flexible and wanted to make sure we had a great time.
We got to see many animals, more up close on the canal tour, Chris? Was able to pull our boat up close to a sloth, cayman, and monkeys.
Stopped just in time at a restaurant on the beach for lunch during a downpour. Had great food and a great time.

Amazing tour with amazing people who know how to do their job - Amazing experience. Hats off to Manuel who was more than a driver. He was like an encyclopedia of info about the tour and the town we were in. He also taught us about the types of sloths. The tour was more enjoyable with him. He also speaks many languages and has a good energy that makes up your day with good jokes. Jordi (I hope that's the correct spelling), the boat rider, was also good showing us many animals like sloths, birds, lizards, crocodiles, who are normally camouflaged in their habitat, so only a professional like him could see them. The rainforest experience was also very good. I learned many things about the jungle and the habitants.

Great tour and a fantastic guide - It’s a wonderful tour of the Costa Rica rainforest. The admission to the rainforest was not included in our visit but we were informed of this beforehand. Our tour was small only 6 of us. Our guide Steve was very friendly and he made sure that he was there for us. If we wanted to do something after the main parts of the tour were completed he would take us elsewhere. The six of us decided on lunch at a local restaurant serving local cuisine. We toured the rainforest with a qualified rainforest guide. We saw lots of wildlife. Part of the tour was through a brackish river/canal also with a qualified captain. It was just the same six of our group. We got to see amazing wildlife including a beautiful sloth very close up. I would highly recommend this tour. Small groups are so much more fun than the large buses. Shout out to our great guide Steve. He was knowledgeable about Costa Rica and incredibly friendly and funny. He had a hug for all of us at the end of the tour. He also made sure he kept us as dry as possible when the rain started. He was truly amazing.

Great, full on day in Costa Rica - Fabulous day out with driver Stephen. Took great care of us & lots of information throughout the day. There was just four of us in our group which was ideal. Took about an hour to get to the rainforest, over some bumpy tracks but we knew to expect that. Spent about 3 informative hours there before Stephen taking us to the canal. Shared a boat with another 4 people & had excellent driver & wildlife spotter. Saw cayman, sloths, herons, kingfisher & iguanas & could hear the howler monkeys but didn’t see any this time.
Then onto a beach bar for a cooling drink & finally a viewing point where could see our ship in port. Back to ship in plenty of time.
Would highly recommend this tour

Relax day tours: Great organization with personal contact! Very committed and professional. - Relax day tours is a great organization, committed and wants to give you the best possible experience. They think along with you and there is personal (and fast) contact with questions. Eventually we made a different tour than this one after consultation, namely to Cahuita and of course the boat trip on the Tortuguero canal.
Guide Manuel was very enthusiastic and went out of his way to show us as much as possible. We also had a say in what we wanted to see within the tour. He knows a lot of people and asks them where the animals are at that moment. He knows exactly where to look and does his utmost, with all due respect for nature and animals, to give us a great excursion. The little extras like a fruit stand where we could taste, fresh delicious empanadas made along the way by a friend and explanations about the banana plantation made it an unforgettable excursion.
