Exceeded all expectations! - This tour blew me away! I had a lot of cities to visit for work, and just a couple days of downtime in Lisbon. Laura was an excellent guide - knowledgeable, worldly, and made the 6+ hour tour very enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the fact that we spent quality time at each stop. Most definitely my new food tour company!

Laura was a fantastic host! Great experience! - Terrific experience. Laura was a most charming and informative host. We were trying to count the number of spots we visited and it was at least eight (8). Everything was fantastic. Laura knew the shop keepers and it was always a fun and engaging discussion. We learned so much about then Portuguese influence and the real meaning behind the culinary crossroads theme. We have been on many food tours and our experience with Laura was outstanding. Recommended extremely highly.

You don’t want to miss this experience! - Kika wove the history, culture and food together beautifully for memories that will be long lasting. She provided culinary recommendations for the balance of our trip. Each was a complete delight. We could not more strongly recommend the tour, especially when you first arrive to Lisbon.

An incredible day of history and eating! - We shared a five hour tour with Laura who made our tour incredibly interesting and tasty! I am a professional Chef and the amount of knowledge I gained on the tour was astounding. I had no idea of the deep connections and influence Portugal has made in its history especially in culinary history. We ate, walked and talked and shared a lovely day in Lisbon. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wishing to gain a historical connection with Portugal and food. Laura was a tremendous guide with deep knowledge of history, food and she is the best.

Great Start to Lisboa stay - Ines did an amazing job and had to deal with a rainy day as well. Excellent background in history and sharing the influence of Portuguese trade and spices, etc. We had a wonderful first experience in Lisbon exploring the city and food. Highly recommend. I’m a celiac and she did a great job accommodating changes to the menus as we sampled up to 5 or 6 different places from wine tasting, to appetizers, pastries and a few main courses. Pastry option are not really good for Celiacs. But there are good guides with options outside the tours. Would do this tour again and hope for better weather. But a great start to our week in Lisboa.

Fantastic experience, Lisbon from a local perspective, and great food! - Kika was a fantastic guide and this tour was amazing overall. Kika shared many aspects of her life in Lisbon and growing up in Portugal, and it felt like a friend showing you around their neighborhood. Fantastic local spots with great tasting food and large portions, and a lot of great information about the history of Portugal and Lisbon, and how it influenced the food culture today. This was the highlight of my travels so far, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore Lisbon in a new and different way.

Lisbon Food Coma - Gisele was an absolute delight as our guide. We loved the variety of restaurants and food vendors we visited and sampled their best dishes or items. Getting not only great food but getting the history of ingredients and their place in Portuguese cuisine was interesting. The time was well spent and we were very full, but happy by the end of the tour.

Amazing day - We learned, we ate, we explored, all places we would not have gotten to on our own. We were able to get beyond the superficial and experience a slice of the true culture of Lisbon. Gisela was knowledgeable, engaging, and brought the history to life as we spent the day walking the neighborhood, meeting the people and of course eating a lot of food! A great family memory. Thank you!

Fantastic and memorable introduction to Lisbon - We are so glad we booked this tour for our first day in Lisbon. I was worried that such a long tour would get boring or tiring, but it was exactly the opposite -- the whole experience was engaging and energizing, with a great variety of stops and activities, and just the right amount of time spent on each. We came away with a much stronger understanding of Portugal's history: a lot of information, but easy to absorb thanks to the food tie-ins and the outstanding talks. Our guide was a former teacher -- a skillset that shone through in how actively and skillfully she engaged us on each topic. This was easily one of the best tours I've experienced, and I know I'll be looking up Culinary Backstreets again the next time I travel.
