• Praça do Comércio (Terreiro do Paço) - Praça do Comércio is a spacious square overlooking the port. Situated to the south along the Tagus River (Tejo), it is still often referred to in Portuguese as Terreiro do Paço. Following the 1755 earthquake, the square was entirely redesigned as part of the Baixa Pombalina reconstruction. By the 19th century, Praça do Comércio became home to several key departments of the Portuguese State.
• 25 de Abril Bridge - The 25 de Abril Bridge, initially named Ponte Salazar upon its opening on August 6, 1966, was renamed after the Carnation Revolution in 1974, which marked the end of Salazar’s regime. It is also frequently referred to as the Tagus River Bridge.
• MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology - MAAT is a cultural initiative in Lisbon focusing on Art, Architecture, and Technology. The €20 million museum is located on the Tagus River, west of the city center, and is recognized as “one of Europe’s most lyrical new museums.” It connects the new building with the Tejo Power Station and was designed by Amanda Levete Architects.
• Torre de Belém - Officially known as Torre de São Vicente, this 16th-century fortification in Lisbon served as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers and as a ceremonial gateway to the city. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
• Padrão dos Descobrimentos - Conceived in 1939 by Portuguese architect José Ângelo Cottinelli Telmo and sculptor Leopoldo de Almeida, this monument initially served as a temporary lighthouse during the Portuguese World Exhibition in June 1940. The permanent structure was erected in 1960 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Infante D. Henrique, the Navigator.
• Mosteiro dos Jerónimos - This monastery is a leading example of the Portuguese Late Gothic Manueline style in Lisbon. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the nearby Torre de Belém, in 1983.
