- 25 de Abril Bridge - Travelers will pass beneath the bridge
The 25 de Abril Bridge is a suspension bridge linking Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, to the municipality of Almada on the left (south) bank of the Tagus River. It was opened on August 6, 1966, and a train platform was added in 1999. Often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, USA, due to their similar color and suspension design, it was constructed by the American Bridge Company, which also built the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, but not the Golden Gate. With a total length of 2,277 meters (7,470 feet), it ranks as the 32nd largest suspension bridge globally. The upper deck accommodates six car lanes, while the lower deck features a double-track railway electrified at 25 kV AC. Until 1974, it was known as the Salazar Bridge. The name “25 de Abril” commemorates the Carnation Revolution.
- Torre de Belém - The Belém Tower is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Lisbon that played a significant role in Europe’s Age of Discoveries, serving both as a fortress and a port from which Portuguese explorers embarked to establish the first European trade routes with China and India. It also functioned as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon.
- Santuário Nacional de Cristo Rei - The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a Catholic monument and shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, overlooking Lisbon from Almada, Portugal. Inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon visited that monument, the project was inaugurated on May 17, 1959, during the rule of António de Oliveira Salazar. The towering cement statue was erected to express gratitude for Portugal being spared from the effects of World War II.
- Praça do Comércio (Terreiro do Paço) - The Praça do Comércio is located in Lisbon, Portugal. Situated near the Tagus River, the square is still commonly referred to as Terreiro do Paço because it was the site of the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. Following the earthquake, the square was completely redesigned as part of the reconstruction of the Pombaline Downtown, ordered by Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquis of Pombal, who served as the Minister of the Kingdom of Portugal from 1750 to 1777, during the reign of King Dom José I of Portugal.
