Beautiful Beach, Beautiful Views of Lisbon, Excellent Guide - This was one of the many highlights of my travel to Lisbon! I always like to plan one nature outing in an area where I am traveling to balance all the city hustle and bustle. At first I was a bit hesitant about the 5 hour time commitment, but the time was well worth it!
The van ride, in and of itself, was a tour of sorts and the conversations with the other travelers brought so much enrichment to my experience. Our guide, Nessim, is such an intelligent man. He speaks 7 different languages!! All extremely well. The conversations I had with him were very inspiring. He is super knowledgeable about the history and culture of Portugal (and other countries as well) and his style is beautifully conversational, not at all "rehearsed canned speeches". He answered everyone's questions and really expanded my sense of Portuguese history and culture. He brought such lightheartedness and playfulness to the day and he was very encouraging during the hike. The hike down to the beach is somewhat tricky, but he managed it in Birkenstocks and I managed it in my Sanuks. Other travelers were wearing sneakers and that was probably the best option for sure-footedness. The beach was absolutely as pictured. The views from the cliff were stunning. The water was gorgeous and so inviting. To be able to float and snorkel and swim was just amazing!! We were offered masks, snorkels, and wet suits. We all carried our own gear on the 20 minute hike so be sure to bring an extra bag or have room in your backpack. No one ended up putting on the wet suits, just throwing that out there. It was a hot day so perhaps on a colder day you'd want to utilize them. If I did it again, I would choose not to have to haul the gear down and back up again. Bring your own towel and a way to clean off your feet for the hike on the way back up.
You might want to bring a snack, but on the second part of the journey you do get to spend some time looking at the Santuário de Cristo Rei (The Sanctuary of Christ the King) and there is a cafeteria where you can buy food - either just coffee and pastries or other simple foods. Nothing fancy, but if you don't have time or the inclination to pack a picnic, you don't have to worry about that.
The whole day wraps up around 2ish so you have time to either wander around that part of the city all salty and sandy, or go clean up and have plenty of time for all the evening fun that goes on and on and on in Lisbon.
One thing to note is that the hostel sign is not very visible. It's in part of the train station and there is no door knob on the entrance so if you see the sign for the Sunset Hostel, you have actually arrived! Nessim thankfully kept his eye out for this confused traveler and called down to me from the hostel window above and was so kind and patient with me for arriving somewhat flustered and confused.

Great view and super friendly guide! - This trip was a wonderful experience! The view and the beach of Sesimbra are absolutely stunning! What also made our trip so great was our very outgoing and friendly guide Manuel! He told us lots of interesting things about Lisboa on our way to the beach. He even had some sunumbrellas, sunscreen and snorkel stoff with him, so cool! Book this trip with Manuel, you won't regret it. :)

Perfect tour! - The tour was a birthday present for my niece from Brazil. We went to Ribeira do Cavalo with the guide Manuel, who was super kind and polite. At times the decision was complicated and he wouldn't leave us behind. I would repeat it without thinking twice! Grade 10!
Ps. Unfortunately the beach is becoming very popular, so the best time is in the morning. After lunch the beach gets very, very crowded.

Drive and signposting to Ribeira do Cavalo beach & drive to Christo Rei - We were taken by bus from the meeting point of Miguel to Ribeira do Cavalo beach. Miguel walked ahead of the road to the beach. The beach is now apparently well ES bucht by locals and tourists (not like in the photo) – there are even seataxis there, private boats dock, and the kayak tour also passes there. But is surely a beautiful beach with clear water. Miguel informed us that he has diving goggles and two umbrellas for us. He also told us how long we would stay on the ES beach and that we should go to the statue of Christo Rei afterwards.
ES was like this: He drove us to the entrance, explained how long we had to look at the statue, and waited on the bus while we did. Everyone just went off for themselves and came back at the agreed time. Afterwards we were driven to the meeting point. Miguel explained to us that once you have done the tour, you can use the swimming pool in the hostel from the meeting point.
And that’s actually it, it’s okay, the drive there was almost an hour believe. I had imagined a “Wild Beach Tour” just a little different, maybe even with some background information about the area, no matter what the topic... ES were also two ladies in the group for whom the descent to the beach was a real challenge. But that was not the reason we just went to this beach. That was the tour. We also all found ES a bit strange that Miguel as a “guide” did not take care of the two ladies. Instead, we or other descenders helped, only then did he feel obliged. Even if the ladies weren’t dressed appropriately for the tour or maybe underestimated it – I thought it was a little loveless. ES was not an experience as a group, where you had experienced something afterwards as a "group". The mood was not "exuberant" by all this. Maybe Miguel had a bad day, I don't know, I'm sorry, didn't know how to evaluate it in the end. I was hoping I saw beautiful nature and had the wrong shoes on for Wild Beach Tour, neither came true. I would just change the title a little bit, a Wild Beach tour can be understood differently.

I wouldn’t do it again - Tour guide was very nice and very knowledgeable but the tour needs a lot of improvements. 1) the van they use is very old and does not have AC. For those of us who sat in the back row, when the van was stopped or in traffic, we got uncomfortably hot in the back. 2) the gear was old and cleanness is questionable. 3) you carry your own umbrella, gear and wet suit down hike. 4) the tour guide should give guests the option to take a water taxi instead of the hike. 5) the beach is not white sandy beach as advertised.
The scene is beautiful but the tour all in all is a budget tour.
