A highlight of our trip to Portugal - This day trip was one of our highlights during our visit to Portugal. Our guide, Pedro Luis, is a multilingual historian who shared loads of interesting details about the places we were visiting, as well as the history of the country more generally, in a fun and interactive way. We didn't feel too rushed, despite covering lots of ground – including a long ascent to Pena Palace in Sintra – followed by a stop at Cabo Roca and an afternoon in Cascais. At Pena Palace, the group tour was very well organized and we had ample time to explore the building and grounds despite some inclement weather. As others have mentioned, ensure you are equipped for a solid climb given the steep hills leading to the top. The pit stop at Cabo da Roca was quick but appreciated, while the free time in Cascais was enough to have a relaxed lunch and walk around town before returning to Lisbon. My only recommendation to the tour operator is to build in more time for guests to see the ruins of the Moorish Castle, as well as Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra. All in all a highly recommended outing for first-time visitors to Portugal!

Our guide, Tomas, made the tour. - Seeing Sintra, the Pena Palace and Cascais was worthwhile, but the insights into Portugal, past and present, provided mostly while driving made this the best guided tour we’ve been on in out Spain Portugal trip.

Pleasant day trip - We thoroughly enjoyed our day to Pena Palace, Sintra and Cascais. The small group made the experience even more enjoyable because the driver/guide Orlando (not Bloom :)) could give full attention and care to all of us and we were able to form a quick bond and camaraderie. Leonardo was also very pleasant and knowledgeable.

Day trip to Sintra and Cascais - An early start from downtown Lisbon but well worth getting to Sintra early when the palace opens to avoid a long wait. Interesting vist and wonderful views. Then some free time in Sintra town - highly recommend the original ‘pillow’ pastry before a short stop at Cabo da Roca - the most westerly point on the peninsulare and on to Cascais for lunch. Guide Sergio was friendly and knowledgeable and our small group of 8 passengers thoroughly enjoyed our day, sides by blue skies and warm sunshine. Would wholeheartedly recommend the day trip.

Sunshine in the Rain - We booked Sintra & Cascais Day tour with Pena Palace with Around Lisbon . The weather was wet and gloomy . However our friendly, knowledgeable and capable guide and driver, Oriana Silva, made our day an enjoyable one with her witty stories about the history of the places we visited and drove through. On her recommendations, we enjoyed delicious local favourites . She made a otherwise miserable gloomy day bright and beautiful with her friendliness and professionalism. Thank you, Oriana!

Fantastic, beautiful learning experience! A mix of recent and long ago history! - The trip started with Pedro M arriving promptly at our hotel to personally escort us to Sintra. We made stops along the way at many historic sites. It was great to have such a well educated, articulate guide!

Sintra is beautiful but beware if the risk - My Husband booked surprise visit to Lisbon for my birthday. On the actual day of my birthday despite the horrible weather we visited Sintra. Unfortunately, I was pickpocketed while visiting Sintra during the winter, in a quiet area with very few people around. It was shocking and deeply upsetting because I felt safe at the time. I’m sharing this not to complain about Sintra, which was amazing but so more people are aware of the risk. The more informed visitors are, the more vigilant they can be, and hopefully this helps prevent someone else from going through the same experience. Sintra is beautiful, but even in the quieter season, you need to be careful with your belongings, there are some desperate who take advantage.
