Thank You - CityRama Sintra Deluxe tour Nov22/2025 We enjoyed the Sintra tour. Without the tour, we would not have seen so much. Unfortunately, 2 minutes before getting of the bus (end of tour) at Lisbon, the bus suddenly braked due to a pedestrain who ran in front of the bus. I was half asleep and my head/nose hit the handle bar at the back of the seat (seat in front of me). Lots of nose bleeding, pain eyes, nose and head. I would like to thank Monica Romao, tour guide Sofia Jacques and our driver for assisting with my mishap accident incident. For all their professional help, support given to me and all of us (4 of us booked from Tivoli Hotel), getting us to the Santa Maria Hospital and check-in process and our driver who also drove my friends back to Tivoli Oriente Hotel. The doctor ordered a CT scan and reported my nose was not broken. Apologies for all the inconvenience. All your help highly appreciated. Yee Lan Lim

Fabulous Portugal 11 day trip - We actually did a 11 day tour of Portugal . It was fabulous. The tour guide was amazing, knowledgeable polite, pleasant, caring, about the people on his tour as well as as the driver we couldn’t have asked for a better experience it was more than what I anticipated. It was a small group and it was just perfect for us. We got to know each other and enjoy each other’s company.

Made the day unforgettable - Our Sintra tour with Rui was truly one of the highlights of our trip! He was fantastic — switching between Portuguese, Spanish, and English so naturally, making sure everyone in the group felt part of the experience. Rui has a great sense of humor and knows how to make history come alive. We loved how he shared not just facts but also personal stories and food recommendations that gave us a real taste of Portugal. Such a warm, funny, and friendly guide — we couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Informative tour of Sintra, Pena Palace, Cascade, and Capo da Roca - The meeting point for the bus pick up in the morning was a bit confusing the address is a large Lisbon park called Parque Eduardo VII. When we used Google Maps, it pointed us to a totally different part of the park so although we were well ahead of the scheduled meeting time, walking to the wrong spot, having to call the number provided for clarification and returning to the right location all ate up a lot of time. Once that was all sorted out, we were able to check in with staff of Cityrama/Grayline. Our tour guide was Luisa who explained everything clearly in English, Portuguese and Spanish. The driver was also excellent and navigated roads well. Luisa provided a lot of historical context for all of the sites we visited during the full-day tour. First we stopped in Queluz in the Sintra municipality for some quick photos. We were given about 3.5 hours in Sintra itself which was a bit too long because it meant less time in other places. It was, however, a beautiful city with steep and narrow streets. If you have mobility issues, Sintra probably isn’t for you. Pena Palace was nice to see but the tour of it felt somewhat rushed. Capo da Rocha was an amazing viewpoint and it is the westernmost point in continental Europe. Be careful with pick pockets there! We were warned about them and sure enough when we got there, we noticed a woman and two men who clearly weren’t tourists following closely behind tourists and actually saw the woman trying to steal from several people’s backpacks and bags in plain view of other visitors! The last stop in Cascais was too brief and we arrived in the evening when it was already getting dark. We didn’t have time to get to the beach area to see it since we only had about 45 minutes there. We passed by Estoril but didn’t stop there. We thought we’d be back a bit earlier but the tour was from 9am to about 7pm when we returned to Lisbon. All in all, it was a good tour but a bit tiring and some passengers on our bus were very rude which was aggravating at times, though this had nothing to do with the tour itself. One man and his partner were coughing throughout the entire day on the bus - it would’ve been respectful to wear a mask but they didn’t. A few snags here and there but a decent, comprehensive tour and a tour guide who was generous with her knowledge.

Weather should have canceled the tour - The tour went ahead despite appalling weather. Very low visibility and rain all day. We couldn't see the sea or the lighthouse at Cabo de Roca but stopped for "free time" anyway. At Sintra there was more "free time" before the guide informed us the Pina palace was closed due to a wall collapsing. It was very clear that returning to Lisbon and giving us a refund or partial refund was not going to be on the table so after debate among the tour group we elected to tour the palace at Queluz instead. This was OK and ranks in most top ten lists for Lisbon. This was the only guided part of the day. On our return trip we were asked to write and sign a disclaimer that we had willingly elected to replace Pena with Queluz which was a blatant attempt as a CYA by the tour company. Yet more free time in a rain sodden Cascais before being returned to Lisbon. The bus did drop us at our individual hotels which was seen as a big gimme by Cityrama. Our guide was lovely, none of this her fault - I hope she finds a decent tour company to work for soon. We're unlikely to take another "deluxe" "guided" bus tour again in a hurry.

Absurd!!! - Subject: Formal complaint – “Sintra Mystical” tour organized by GrayLine Lisbon I would like to express an extremely negative review regarding the tour called “Sintra Mystical” organized by GrayLine agency in Lisbon. During the excursion we were denied access to the visit of the Palácio da Quinta da Regaleira, one of the main and most significant stops of the itinerary, despite the fact that the entrance ticket was regularly purchased and paid for at a cost of €18.05. The most serious circumstance is that this decision was taken without any clear, explicit or properly communicated reasons to the participants. We have not been given a plausible explanation or an alternative solution, nor has any refund been proposed for the ticket already paid for. This behavior is deeply unfair and unprofessional, especially considering that the Quinta da Regaleira Palace is one of the main points of interest of the tour. The impossibility to visit it significantly compromised the overall experience, making the service offered less than expected and not in accordance with what was implicitly promised by the excursion program. A serious tourism organisation should ensure transparency, respect for customers and responsible management of unexpected events. In this case, unfortunately, none of these standards were met. In light of what happened, I would not recommend this tour or GrayLine Lisbon agency, and I think the handling of the episode was completely inadequate towards customers who had paid for a specific service. I look forward to an official clarification and a refund of the unused entrance ticket.
