Excellent tour with superb guide and tickets all included! - This tour was wonderful and included beautiful sights from a comfortable van with sound system to hear our awesome guide/driver, Sergio. It also turned out we were the only 3 on this tour (up to 8 in high season). The stops in Cascais, Cape Rock, and lunch / shopping in Sintra were well-paced and we still had ample time in Quinta and Peña Palace. (Sergio reversed the itinerary due to closed roads with a bike race/marathon held today.) I chose this itinerary because all the (timed) tickets were included plus the guide gave us so much interesting history and details while touring the Peña Palace. I would not hesitate to book an Inside Lisbon tour and this particular itinerary! My 9 year old was engaged the whole time of the tour, which we booked for the day after arrival in Lisbon. There is a bit of uphill steps at the palace so flat shoes and some fitness is required (the palace also has a shuttle bus).

Go see Pena Palace - Our tour got started about an hour late because of traffic on the highway due to an accident. The tour company, Inside Lisbon, had people at the pickup site who updated our group on what was going on. Despite the delayed start, the day went smoothly, with no apparent negative consequences. Our group consisted of six people, plus our guide Benny. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. We started in Sintra, entering the Quinta da Regaleira around 10AM. Benny took us to the entrance of the palace, but did not go in with us. He gave us some pointers and suggestions before we entered, but otherwise allowed us to roam the grounds on our own for about 90 minutes. The grounds are extensive and interesting, and one could easily spend several hours (or longer) wandering around if so inclined. At this time of year, when it wasn’t very crowded, 90 minutes was enough to get the flavor of the place. After the Regaleira, we left Sintra and drove to the coast to the western most point in continental Europe at Cabo da Roca. Extremely windy. Nice view of the coast below. Worth the 25 minutes we took to stop there. From there we headed to Cascais for lunch. We had a bout 90 minutes there. That was basically enough time to sit down and eat lunch, and get some gelato afterwards. We didn’t really explore the town at all. It was kind of rainy at that point in the day anyway, so just as well. However, if you want to walk around the town at all, eat lunch on the go. After Caiscais, we drove back to Sintra to tour the Pena Palace. I’d say this was the highlight of the day. Our entry time was 4PM. A fog/mist had rolled in by the time we got up there, so we didn’t have any views of the countryside. In my opinion, the fog added to the ambiance of the palace and enhanced the experience. Benny guided us through the large palace for about an hour. It wasn’t too crowded, so moving around was relatively comfortable. There is a lot to see, and a lot of information to absorb. Benny did an excellent job of moving us through the palace and describing the highlights. Here again, like the Regaleira, I felt that one could spend an entire day exploring the Pena Palace and grounds. Everyone has different tolerances for that kind of stuff. What we did was good, but I could have taken in a little more. I would not recommend doing the Pena Palace unguided — unless you just like looking at stuff without any context. You won’t get much out of it. And the roads, parking, and general logistics around Sintra seemed like it could be a lot for the uninitiated, especially at more crowded times of the year. After the palace we made another quick stop in the town of Sintra to have a brief look around. At Benny’s recommendation, we picked up some travesseiro pastries from a cafe called Piriquita. They were very good. I prefer them to the pastel de nata. We arrived back in Lisbon around 6:30PM. Overall, a full and worthwhile day. Benny was an excellent guide. He is young, personable, and enthusiastic about being a guide. He is well versed in the history of Portugal, and able to convey the main points clearly. I’m glad we had Benny as our guide, and would highly recommend him, and this tour. It might be a different story in the summer, when things are much more crowded. But on October 31, 2025, it was an excellent day.

The best day! - My Husband and I LOVED this experience. We highly recommend this trip and company. Alberto was fantastic and had a lot of knowledge and was all around fun! We wouldn’t have wanted to experience the day any other way.

BOOK THIS TOUR! - Our guide Fabio did an amazing job from start to finish! He quickly gathered our group from Hard Rock and got us to Pena Palace before the crowds — which made all the difference. When we left the line was long, it was warm and people already seemed to be rushed - not us. I’d heard you can take the train and do this on your own, and I would NOT recommend that. Fabio got us in and out before the long lines formed, and I truly believe that timing changed the entire experience. It was absolutely worth going with him for such a smooth, enjoyable visit.
Throughout the day, Fabio shared so much fascinating history and context about what we were seeing. He even sent photos and information via WhatsApp so we could keep them, something we never would have gotten doing this on our own. I learned so much more than I ever expected!
After Pena Palace, he took us to Sintra, where he shared great local recommendations for our free time. That was such a special part of the day — Sintra is magical, and having guidance made it even better. After our time in Sintra we went to Quinta da Regaleira estate. Not only did he share with us how to navigate it but sent us a map with a path to do it as this was on our own as well. Again, showing up on our own and trying to navigate this we would not have known what to do, how to do it and especially the stories of history he gave us before going in.
Next, we visited Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe. Fabio’s insider tips helped us make the most of the stop in ways that wouldn’t be possible on our own. 10/10 experience!
Our last stop in Cascais we enjoyed a scenic drive with stunning coastal views. Fabio showed us hidden gems and explained the history of this charming seaside town.
Most importantly, it was Fabio’s hospitality and authenticity that made this day unforgettable. Our group included a couple, a solo traveler, and friends with two kids and he made everyone feel included and cared for. A tour is always helpful when you don’t know your way around, but Fabio turned it into something truly special.
Thank you, Fabio and if you’re thinking about booking this tour, do it! It’s the golden ticket to experiencing Sintra, Pena, and Cascais the right way.

A wonderful tour with lots to see! - Loved the Palace of Pena! The building is fascinating and the furniture and decorations inside the palace were spectacular. The Regaleira and grounds were beautiful. The Initiation Well was really special - although there was quite a line to get in. The stop at Caba da Roca was quick - but there wasn't much to see or do besides get a quick photo. Cascais was a very pleasant surprise. Such a charming beachside village. We would have loved to spend more time there, but a quick drink and walk around town was just enough to make us want to return. Overall, a long day - but well worth it.

Fun Day learning about Portugal - Wonderful experience with Tomas, our guide, he was knowledgable, fun, and gave great history lessons. We felt the day was a complete tour with the number of stops and length of time at each stop. There was 8 people total which made the tour just the right size. Great for everyone.

Full day trip with time... - Full day trip with time to explore Sintra town at lunch. Restaurants in Sintra only start serving at noon so a little rushed for longer lunch. Wear decent shoes for walking. Very interesting and this trip includes entry tickets into the palace and good time slots plus close parking. Worth the money to ensure that you get the full experience. Ask for Sergio he was a great tour guide!

Great Tour Outside of Lisbon - We loved the tour but felt too much was packed in. Ana was an amazing guide, extremely friendly & knowledgeable and treated us with her beautiful singing voice for a song during the ride; a true bonus!
We Would’ve liked to have spent more time in Cascais (20 minutes was not enough) or just stayed in the Sintra area, skipping the coastal stop.
