- National Park Cerro Verde - Also known as Parque Nacional Los Volcanes, Cerro Verde is home to three significant volcanoes, including El Salvador’s tallest (Santa Ana) and youngest (Izalco). The area within and surrounding the Protected Area hosts a third of El Salvador’s known wildlife species and features diverse environments, ranging from coffee plantations and solidified lava flows to lush cloud forests and moorlands. This Protected Area is truly one of El Salvador’s natural treasures.
- Santa Ana Volcano - With exclusive early access, visitors can avoid the crowds, the hottest hours, and long lines. They can walk at their own pace and spend more time enjoying the crater. Known as Santa Ana, this is the tallest volcano in El Salvador and offers a fantastic hike with breathtaking views of the valleys and Coatepeque caldera lake below. It is also the easternmost peak of the impressive Apaneca mountain range, which consists of 14 volcanoes and is the largest coffee-producing region in El Salvador. The hike traverses various environments, from cloud forests to the barren summit. Several viewpoints provide excellent spots for rest and taking in the scenery. At the summit, visitors can see the vast and deep crater with a steaming turquoise sulfuric-acid lake at the bottom and fumaroles emitting sulfuric gas. On a clear day, up to nine volcanoes, the fertile Zapotitán valley, and the distant Pacific Ocean coastline are visible.
- Lake Coatepeque - Delight in a Salvadoran lunch at a restaurant perched on the rim of the ancient caldera, overlooking Coatepeque, El Salvador’s most beautiful natural lake, which lies peacefully at the foot of the Santa Ana volcano. From this vantage point, visitors can point to the volcano and proudly declare: “Veni, Vidi, Vici.”
