At the summit, visitors can see the vast and deep crater with a steaming turquoise sulfuric-acid lake at the bottom and fumaroles emitting sulfuric gas. On a clear day, up to nine volcanoes, the fertile Zapotitán valley, and the distant Pacific Ocean coastline are visible.
