With DJ nights, wine tastings, and architecture talks, there’s always something exciting happening at Barnsdall Art Park. The atmosphere is lively, and the views are spectacular. From the park, enjoy sights of the Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Sign, and the stunning homes featured on the tour.
• Hollywood Boulevard - The tour will briefly stroll along Hollywood Blvd. While stars on the sidewalk won’t be found here, delve into the captivating film history of Los Feliz. From historic movie theatres still standing to long-forgotten grand film sets, Los Feliz was Hollywood before Hollywood existed. The area still hosts working studios, and discover where a young Walt Disney used to animate in the back of a real estate office.

• Melrose Place - Shows like ‘90210’ and ‘Melrose Place’ have defined Los Angeles for a generation. The locations in these shows can become as iconic as the cast themselves. What would ‘90210’ be without the Peach Pit? The apartments from ‘Melrose Place’ are one of those legendary LA locations, though they can be tricky to find. Discover where the building is (hint: it’s not on Melrose) and uncover the intriguing noir connection to the building.
• Los Feliz - After exploring Vermont Ave., head up into the hills. Hike through the Los Feliz Heights neighborhood, where Frank Lloyd Wright and his students adorned the streets with mid-century masterpieces. • Hlaffer–Courcier House - The route isn’t all about midcentury design! Pass by the Hlaffer-Courcier House, one of the most enchanting storybook homes in all of LA. It looks like it leaped right out of a fairy tale and is even called ‘Witch’s Whimsy.’ No need to worry about ending up like Hansel and Gretel, though. There’s no witch here, just wonderful locals!
• Ennis House - This is the big one. Literally. The Ennis House by Frank Lloyd Wright is a colossal home visible from across LA, including from the starting point at the Hollyhock House. This massive temple-like house dominates the hillside and has been featured prominently in film and TV. Whether passionate about architecture or a huge ‘Blade Runner’ fan, the Ennis House is sure to impress.
• Griffith Park - In the final section of the tour, enjoy a pleasant hike through Griffith Park. Spanning over 4,200 acres, Griffith Park is more than five times larger than Central Park in New York. It is filled with breathtaking views and landmarks, but also has a colorful history. Learn about the infamous man who gifted us the park, Griffith Jenkins Griffith. The man so nice, they named him twice.
• Griffith Observatory - The tour concludes at the world-renowned Griffith Observatory. An architectural wonder and film icon, the Griffith Observatory is a must-visit LA landmark. Choose to stay at the Observatory to enjoy the views and museum (closed on Monday) or use the DASH Shuttle to return to the tour’s starting point.
