The staff was friendly... - The staff was friendly and gave helpful feedback on where to look for sea life. Didn’t see any whales but the tour was still a great choice. The staff had sea creatures on board (small) type petting experience for the kids during the time while looking for whales.

An ocean of fun! - This was a fantastic time! We were very lucky and got to see a North Atlantic Right Whale, Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins, and a variety of birds! Even without the luck in who appeared, the naturalists were very informative, but still left time without narration to enjoy the boat ride. I would highly recommend the Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center, and will likely be doing another cruise when next we visit Cape May!

A tail of a Jersey whale - My husband and I went out on this tour with our friends on Nov. 2nd. This was the first time that we went whale watching in New Jersey. We saw dolphins, various birds and a whale. We frequently see dolphins while on the beach and have gone on many dolphin watching boat rides, but have never seen whales. When they spotted the whale they spent at least 45 minutes in the area so we could observe the whale and take pictures. The tour team, which included a naturalist, was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot and had a great time. Seeing a whale out in the ocean was thrilling. We are adding this experience to our must do list while at the shore.

Maybe do 2 hours instead of 3 unless you know there are whales to be seen. - The crew is well organized and friendly. They have the logistics of loading this many people up, down to a science. Although the word “whale” is the eye-catching first animal named in the title, there were no whales to be seen when we went. Sure one can show up any time, but I’m sure a lot of people were expecting to see whales. We did see our share of Common Bottlenose Dolphins and got pretty close looks at them too. That was nice. There was a little birdwatching. I’m a birdwatcher and although there were a few species named as we approached them, there was no attempt to slow down to look at them or seek them out. There were also several species I noted on the beach as well as in the water, and no mention was made of them. It was a generally positive experience and fun diversion but 3 hours of diesel motor droning is a little lengthy. It was sunny but a little choppy. If I were to go again I’d first look into whether whales were recently seen or not. Did see a recent newborn dolphin.
