- Start the day with a hotel pick-up. Visit the Golden Buddha Temple (Wat Trimit), home to the world’s largest gold Buddha statue, over 700 years old, and a significant treasure of Thailand and Buddhism.
- Wat Phra Chetuphon - Continue to Wat Pho, also known as Wat Phra Chetuphon, renowned for its enormous ‘Reclining Buddha’. This gold-plated statue is 46 meters long and 15 meters high, representing Buddha’s transition into Nirvana. It is a truly magnificent sight, with the Buddha’s eyes and feet adorned with mother-of-pearl, and the feet featuring carvings of the ‘108’ characteristics of Buddha.
- Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple) - Visit the Marble Temple, Wat Benchamabophit, once considered the most modern example of Thai religious architecture. This temple is famous for its main chapel constructed from white Italian marble.
- The Grand Palace - Proceed to The Grand Palace (Wat Phra Kaew), one of Thailand’s most visited tourist sites. To the north of the royal residence, connected by a gateway, is the royal monastery of the Emerald Buddha.
- Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) - The Emerald Buddha is a figure carved from green jade, first discovered in 1437 in a stupa in Chiang Rai. Initially, it was covered in plaster and mistaken for a regular Buddha statue.

Escape Bangkok’s noise at Wat Benchamabophit—moonlit Marble Temple, peaceful Buddha, and timeless New Year calm. - Travel like the wind
I arrived at Wat Benchamabophit as the year was slowly letting go of its final breath. The city behind me still danced with fireworks and noise, but here the air moved gently, like a quiet wind carrying old stories. Under the moon, the Marble Temple stood calm and timeless, waiting for another year to begin.
The moon floated above the temple roofs, pale and watchful. Its light slipped across the white marble walls, turning them silver and soft. Far away, fireworks bloomed and vanished, their sounds fading before they could reach this sacred place. I felt removed from the rush of time, as if the night had chosen stillness instead of celebration. Sitting quietly, I let the wind pass through my thoughts, carrying away the worries of the old year.
Wat Benchamabophit holds history in every stone. Built during the reign of King Rama V, the temple was shaped by a vision of harmony—Thai tradition meeting the wider world. Italian marble traveled across oceans to become part of this sacred ground, and today it still shines, strong and graceful. The temple does not shout its beauty; it whispers it.
Inside, the Buddha image rests in peaceful confidence, reminding visitors to pause and breathe. Around the courtyard, the many Buddha statues stand like silent travelers from different times, each carrying a lesson, each watching over the present. Walking past them felt like moving through history itself, guided by faith and quiet respect.far from fireworks, under quiet moonlight.

Highlights of Bangkok - great tour - this is a great tour if your stay in Bangkok is short but you want to see the highlights. Our guide Air and driver collected us from the hotel and took us around all of the mentioned sites in comfort and giving the history, etc She knew all the best spots to get the best view in photos and took them of us - never had so many photos with us both in them (that weren't selfies) for years. Well arranged tour with a waiting tuk tuk ride in between 2 sites to save us from walking, and the driver in the unbearable traffic.
