Longmen Grottoes–Luoyang Museum
Longmen Grottoes - The friendly tour guide and driver will pick up guests from their downtown hotel in Luoyang and proceed to the Longmen Grottoes. These are situated on both sides of the Yi River, south of the ancient capital of Luoyang in Henan province. The stunning carvings are considered the finest among China’s grottoes, featuring over 2,300 caves and niches carved into the steep limestone cliffs along a 1km stretch.
Luoyang Museum - After enjoying a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to the Luoyang Museum, located in the downtown area. This museum reflects the rich history of Luoyang city and showcases its cultural heritage. Luoyang was a major cultural center in China and served as the capital for more than a dozen ancient dynasties, including the Xia and the East Zhou. The museum houses over 400,000 cultural relics, with more than 11,000 on display. Guests will be transferred back to their hotel after the tour.
White Horse Temple-General Guan’s Tomb-Ancient Cultural Street
White Horse Temple - Guests will meet their tour guide in the hotel lobby to begin another exciting day. The first stop is the White Horse Temple, known as the birthplace of Buddhism in China, established in 68 AD under Emperor Ming of the Eastern Han dynasty. The site also features beautiful examples of Thai, Burmese, and Indian temples.
Guanlin Temple (General Guan’s Tomb) - Following the visit to the White Horse Temple, the tour continues to Guanlin Temple, where Guanyu, the renowned general of the Shu Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms Period, was buried. Hence, Guanlin Temple is also known as “General Guan’s Tomb.”
LuoYang LaoCheng LiShi WenHua GuJie - After stopping at a local restaurant for lunch, guests can stroll around Luoyang Ancient Town, a vibrant area with residential zones, snack streets, souvenir shops, and historic buildings. Visitors can admire the ancient architecture, experience the local lifestyle, explore shops, and sample local street food if desired. After the tour, guests will be transferred back to their hotel or can choose to stay and enjoy their time independently.
Luoyang International Peony Garden - The China National Peony Park hosts the Luoyang Peony Fair from April 5th to May 5th each year. Visitors can explore the garden during this period based on their interests.
