- Museo de Sitio y Santuario Arqueológico de Pachacamac - The tour will include a visit to the Acllawasi, known as the “Temple of the Virgins of the Sun,” a sacred area where women chosen for their skills in crafts, cooking, or physical beauty lived and worked in service to the Inca empire. The Acllawasi de Pachacamac was among the largest and most significant on the coast.
Visitors will also admire the various structures that form this remarkable site, showcasing the ingenuity and resilience of cultures such as Lima, Wari, Ichma, and Quechua, who thrived in the challenging coastal desert environment.
After exploring the sacred sites at the sanctuary’s base, the tour will proceed to an elevated ramp leading to the “Temple of the Sun,” the highlight of Pachacamac.
The tour will conclude with a visit around “The Temple of the Sun” or “Punchao kancha,” constructed from adobe and likely the largest temple along the coast, symbolizing a significant organizational effort in its construction.
