- Khor Virap - Khor Virap, meaning “deep dungeon,” is an Armenian monastery situated in the Ararat plain of Armenia, close to the closed border with Turkey. This monastery once housed a theological seminary and served as the residence of the Armenian Catholicos. Khor Virap is renowned as a monastery and pilgrimage site because Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned here for approximately 14 years by King Tiridates III of Armenia. Saint Gregory later became the king’s spiritual advisor, and together they spearheaded the country’s conversion to Christianity. In 301, Armenia became the first nation in the world to officially adopt Christianity. A chapel was first constructed at Khor Virap in 642 by Nerses III the Builder to honor Saint Gregory.
- Hin Areni Winery - Established in 1994 in the village of Areni, the “Areni” winery produces wine from the Areni grape, a tradition that spans thousands of years.

The gorge is famous for its towering, sheer, brick-red cliffs that face the monastery. Noravank is particularly noted for its two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church, which features a narrow stone staircase protruding from the building’s facade to access the second floor.

The Jermuk waterfall, standing 72 meters high, cascades into the Arpa River. The waterfall resembles flowing hair, which is why it is also known as “mermaid’s hair.”
