- Temple of Karnak - Join us on a journey to the Karnak Temple, the second largest religious temple in the world, following Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The initial construction of this temple complex began approximately 3,500 years ago and concluded during the Ptolemaic era. The Karnak Temple is a collection of precincts dedicated to Amun Re, Mut, and Monsu, featuring sacred lakes, hypostyle halls, obelisks, pylons, and shrines. Inside the walls, there is a separate open-air museum that requires an additional entrance ticket, as does the Mut precinct. Your guide will lead you through the temple, highlighting its historical significance and allowing ample time to explore the ancient walls at your leisure.
- Luxor Temple - We continue to the Luxor Temple, which is dedicated not to a deity or pharaoh, but to the Rejuvenation of Kingship and serves as the center of the Opet Festival. In ancient times, both temples were linked by the sphinx alley, which is still under excavation. Many pharaohs were crowned here, either in reality or symbolically (such as Alexander the Great, who claimed to have been crowned in Thebes, though he likely never visited the ancient capital). You will have the opportunity to appreciate the religious significance of the site, as the Theban Triad has shrines, a Roman chapel exists within the walls that was later converted into a church, and atop the temple rests the Abu Haggag mosque.
